Looking for wild animals is so much more than just seeing a moose or a beaver.

First, you meet the forest.

The smell of pine trees after rain. The silence between birds. The tracks in the mud. The lodge where a beaver family might be resting. The open meadow where a moose could step out.

And slowly, you start to understand the place a little better.

Why the animals live here.

And why places like this must be protected.

“Wow, this place must be packed with people in summer, right?”

A guest said this when we arrived at a small forest lake one evening. And I understand why. It was a beautiful evening.

But we almost never meet anyone here.

Sometimes I say: “Well, once I saw someone fishing on the other side.”

That is Sweden. So many lakes. So much space. So few people.

Most evenings it is just us, the lake, the birds, and since we are always looking out for wildlife we often see a beaver or hear a howling wolf.

If you want to experience places like this with us, have a look at our summer tours. Link in comments.

This summer, people are travelling to Sweden and joining us for real wildlife watching.

Moose in the forest.
Beavers on quiet lakes.
Bears from a hide.
And sometimes, wolves howling out there in the dark.

Nothing is staged.
Nothing is guaranteed.

That is what makes it real.

We guide small groups into Sweden’s wild forests every summer, together with local guides who know these places well.

PS. I’m hosting a short live session tomorrow Wednesday 13 May evening about our summer tours. Join if you are curious and want to ask questions. Link in comments.

Want to join WildSweden and a small group of nature lovers for a real autumn expedition in bear country?

Our Autumn Bear Expedition in Sweden is back for the third time.

For four days in early October, we head into the wild mountains to look for bears before winter arrives.

We will hike, camp, watch from good viewpoints, scan the landscape with binoculars and spend time in one of the most beautiful autumn landscapes in Sweden.

This is a Secret Adventure, so the exact location is kept secret. Not to be mysterious, but to protect the wildlife, the land and the experience.

It is not a comfortable sightseeing tour. You need decent fitness and should be comfortable carrying your own backpack with camping gear.

But if you like real nature, simple camping, quiet mountains, local guiding and the chance to share it with a small group of like-minded people, this could be for you.

Bears are the reason we go. But October can also bring moose, owls, autumn colours and northern lights.

Date: 3–6 October 2026
Group size: Max 14 participants
Trip: Autumn Bear Expedition in Sweden
By invitation only

You can see animals in many places.

At a zoo. In a fenced park. On YouTube.

But seeing a wild animal, in its own world, on its own terms... that is something else.

That is what we have been guiding people to experience for 23 years.

Moose at the edge of the forest. Beavers on a quiet lake. Brown bears. Wolves howling out there in the dark.

We never know what nature will give us. But that is what makes it exciting.

This summer we will welcome guests from all over the world to Sweden’s wild forests again. We already have bookings from the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, the US, Australia and more.

Nature lovers who come for real wildlife watching.

No shows. No fences. No guarantees.

Just the forest, the animals, local guides and the chance of a wildlife moment you will remember for a long time.

We’ve got three Secret Adventures coming up this summer.

We keep them a bit hidden on purpose.

Some places are too sensitive to share openly, and we don’t want to send lots of people there on their own.

So we do it differently. small groups, local guides, and always with respect for the wildlife and the place itself.

If you want to see them, sign up for Secret Adventures on our website and we’ll send you the invites.

Not every retreat gets you properly out into the forest.

If you are looking for a retreat this summer, this is one to pay attention to.

The Forest Retreat is led by Christiana Diamesi and Marcus Eldh — a combination of grounded yoga, meditation and nourishing group rhythm, together with real forest time, wildlife guiding and simple outdoor living.

What makes this week special is that we don’t just stay at the retreat centre. We head out into the forest every day, and end the retreat with two nights wild camping by a lake in wolf territory.

A small group, a lot of time outdoors, and a rare mix of calm, adventure and connection.

This is your invitation to a Secret Adventure.

On 12–14 June 2026, we head into the waterways, wetlands and forests of Färnebofjärden National Park for a small-group weekend with beavers at the heart of the experience.

The plan includes two late canoe safaris in prime beaver habitat, time on foot in one of central Sweden’s richest wetland landscapes, and two nights at Gysinge Wärdshus & Hotel. The tour is subscriber-only and limited to max 12 guests.

Beavers are the main focus, but this is also a place of otter, moose, eagles, stillness and soft evening light. A weekend shaped by wildlife, rewilding and time outdoors.
