The last mistake is so underrated 😭I’ve visited the Seven Sisters about 5 times, done the hike 3.5 times and over the years I’ve learnt some things that I hope will help
The main hike runs for 7 hours between Eastbourne & Seaford but many is us just do the 4 hour journey between Seaford and Birling Gap (then bus to Eastbourne)
✨I always recommend starting from Seaford - the seafront is quiet, you’re closer to the Seven Sisters from Seaford and when you get to Birling Gap you can take the bus to Eastbourne and enjoy the more lively beach front there
✨there’s minimal facilities along the hike- one update I’ve seen in 2026 is that the Cuckmere Haven beach that we used to wade through when the tide was in, you’re actively discouraged from doing so. So by taking the long way round the beach you get to stop at Cuckmere Inn which is a nice. Apart from that bring water, snacks - I use eltrolytes from .uk or . There’s also facilities at Birling Gap
✨Up until this year I used to buy advance single tickets - one to Seaford and another from Eastbourne. Then I realised that it really constrains you time wise - depending on who you are hiking with you might go slow or fast. So now I get a return to Eastbourne, and a separate single ticket from Lewes to Seaford to start the hike. It’s literally 3 quid and Lewes is on the way to Eastbourne so you just stop there.
✨finally you do not have to hike🤣😭😭😭if you hate hiking, this is for you. There are a few companies that offer boat tours so you can see the cliffs from the sea. I went with but there’s others👍🏾
We’re going back 4th July - see the link in my bio to join the day trip
