Saudi Arabia port cargo update — August 28, 2026: Jeddah Islamic Port is reporting strong cargo momentum. DP World’s South Container Terminal handled more than 221,200 TEUs in July, its highest monthly throughput since the operator took over the terminal, while exports also reached a record 79,720 TEUs; first-half 2026 terminal volumes rose nearly 79% year on year, supported by 390 vessel calls.
[1] Separately, Red Sea Gateway Terminal and CMA CGM agreed to invest approximately $434 million (SAR 1.6 billion) to develop Terminal 4 at Jeddah Islamic Port, adding up to 2.6 million TEUs of annual capacity, deep-water berths and 10 new ship-to-shore cranes.
[2] Ocean Network Express has also introduced a RC2 service linking Jeddah with Shanghai, Ningbo and Nansha in China, Aqaba in Jordan and Sokhna in Egypt, with capacity of up to 1,643 TEUs.
[3] For context, Mawani’s July figures showed Jeddah Islamic Port handling 540,107 TEUs, while total cargo throughput across the port was 8.49 million tonnes; the authority also recently suspended further advance arrangements for transit containers pending continued monitoring of container flows and port capacity utilization.
