Orange Moist Loaf Cake 🎂
ORANGE MOIST LOAF CAKE
Ingredients;
1 ½ cups (180g) all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
1 tablespoon fresh orange zest
(finely grated skin of 1 large orange)
3 large eggs (room temperature)
½ cup (120ml) vegetable oil
⅓ cup (80ml) fresh orange juice
½ cup (120g) plain whole-milk yogurt or sour cream (secret to maximum moisture!)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions;
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease an 8-inch round cake pan (or a 9x5 loaf pan) and line the bottom with parchment paper
a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a large bowl, combine the granulated sugar and orange zest.
add the eggs, vegetable oil, plain yogurt, orange juice, and vanilla extract. Whisk vigorously until the mixture is completely smooth, pale, and well combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Use a spatula to gently fold just until the flour disappears. Do not overmix, or the cake will lose its fluffy texture.
Pour the batter into prepared pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes (or until a toothpick inserted into the exact center comes out clean with no wet batter).
ORANGE CHOCOLATE GANACHE
Ingredients;
1/2 cup (approx. 45g) cacao powder or unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup (approx. 100g) granulated white sugar
1/2 cup (approx. 120ml) heavy cream or whipping cream
4 tablespoons (approx. 55g) unsalted butter (cut into small cubes)
1 to 2 tablespoons finely grated orange zest (from 1 large fresh orange)
Instructions;
In a saucepan, add the sugar and the fresh orange zest. Rub the zest into the sugar for about 1 minute. This releases the aromatic essential oils from the orange skin, intensifying the citrus flavor.Mix the dry ingredients: Whisk the cacao powder into the orange-sugar mixture until combined.Incorporate the cream: Slowly pour in the heavy cream, whisking thoroughly until a thick, uniform paste forms with no dry lumps.
Then, pour the ganache slowly into the exact center of the cake.
refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. The cold environment will solidify the butter and cacao powder, locking in a stunning, shiny glaze that won't smudge when sliced.
