Today, we would like to share with you the details of a multimodal transportation project, highlighting a series of intriguing engineering solutions.

Cargo Volume: 2900 cubic meters
Maximum Length: 48 meters

⚙️ Key Challenge: To expedite delivery time and reduce costs, the task involved the elevation of power lines, given the cargo's dimensions. Additionally, the cargo's center of gravity and dimensions necessitated a dual-crane approach for loading and unloading.

🔷 In light of these factors, Glogos LLC's design department orchestrated the elevation of power lines along the route. The transport of oversized equipment components was accompanied by thorough surveying. Loading and unloading were efficiently managed using a tandem operation of two cranes. A summary of completed tasks can be found on the final card.

⏱ The reduction in the road leg of the journey positively impacted project completion time. Our experts closely oversaw all cargo operations – from loading to transshipment and unloading – ensuring successful outcomes.

Multimodal transportation of heat equipment

Key risks: consolidation of cargo took place in an EU port (the conflict between Russia and Ukraine already started), complicated customs clearance, and holding the cargo on the vessel.

The Glogos Project team provided a vessel with an optimal configuration and ensured cargo survey from the manufacturer's plant. Our specialists contributed to improving the storage conditions for OOG parts in a covered warehouse in Antwerp and implemented the transit of the cargo, despite some terminal employees obstructing it.

To ensure client peace of mind, we implemented a real-time cargo tracking system. Completed work is shown on the final card. Delivery by truck from "St. Petersburg to Mogilev" was complicated by abnormal heat and accompanying restrictions on transporting oversized cargo on public roads.

Effective transportation management allowed us to deliver the cargo of 265 tons, 844 m3 on time.

Today We will tell you about the transportation of transom closures and components for the ice-resistant self-propelled platform "North Pole".

The delivery was complicated by several factors: the width of the hatch closure and stern closure was 6 meters and 7.5 meters, respectively. It was necessary to quickly prepare and coordinate loading and placement schemes on the vessel. The components of the stern closure had to be protected from water ingress.

Glogos LLC team arranged the vessel charter on a part cargo basis and organized cargo surveying with real-time reporting to the consignee. To reduce the transportation cost of units with widths of 6 and 7 meters, we decided against transporting the cargo by truck and provided a barge, assuming all the risks of handling oversized parts. The list of completed tasks is detailed on the final card.

Currently, the "North Pole" icebreaker continues its drift in the Arctic Basin. Since the start of the expedition, the vessel has traveled 1,174 nautical miles.

Today we'll tell you about the main challenges in the case of transporting a ship crane and provide detailed insight into how we tackled the arising issues with maximum benefit for the client.

Delivery of the ship crane via a multimodal route was complicated due to the length of the boom (36 meters) and the width of certain road sections from the manufacturer's factory (insufficient for turning the trailer carrying the boom). The client's main requirement was to reduce the delivery time.

The Glogos Project team conducted a thorough cargo survey on the "Calatafimi - Antwerp" route, closely monitored the movement of the cargo at each challenging section. Thanks to our risk management approach, efficient preparation of placement and securing schemes for the boom and crane parts, the delivery of the cargo with two road legs and one water leg took only 25 days. The main risks of this project were the width of the two main cargo units - 7 and 8 meters, and the factory infrastructure did not allow for direct loading on-site. Additionally, the project was approaching the holiday season.

Considering these factors, the Glogos LLC team organized the following: positioning the trawl as close to the factory fence as possible, conducting a survey of the route to the loading port in Turkey, and arranging for vessel freight. Even before the arrival of the cargo in RND, we ensured the provision of a barge for Out of Gauge parts and trucks for standard cargo units.

The apparel and components arrived in Kerch on December 31st. Despite this, we managed to unload and deliver the cargo to the customer, meeting all the deadlines. The list of completed works is provided on the final card.

After February 2022, the structure of transportation of vehicles and general / project cargo on MAFI trailers by ro-ro ships has changed dramatically. All permanent ro-ro lines that covered the needs of Russian traders, producers / recipients closed their offices, stopped calling at the ports of the Russian Federation, and stopped providing services. Russian and Belarusian exporters of vehicles, including the GAZ Group, KAMAZ, UAZ, URALAZ, MAZ, BELAZ are under US and EU sanctions. The lines do not accept these cargoes, even if they are delivered to ships going to non-Russian ports.

For almost all issues, the client needs a responsible forwarder who has experience in the tramp market, connections with port and stevedoring structures, and who has the ability to transfer funds between the participants in the transaction. In 2022, Glogos Project specialists developed and implemented a logistics solution for the transportation of 300 passenger buses from Russia to Nicaragua. Last year, logistics company Maersk shut down their blockchain-based TradeLens platform. However, the Hong Kong-based Global Shipping Business Network (GSBN) sees this technology as a critical long-term logistics tool. The first blockchain-based delivery platform was launched by GSBN in 2021. Result: attraction of such large companies as: Cosco, Orient Overseas Container Line, Hapag-Lloyd, Shanghai International Port Group, SPG Qingdao Port, PSA International. Among partner companies, only Hapag-Lloyd and PSA International are not based in mainland China or Hong Kong. Glogos project took participation in a business-breakfast “Optimization in logistics”. This event was organized by St. Petersburg International Business Association on March 28.

The topics of presentations were related to new technologies that allow efficient allocation of resources and automate complex logistics processes. Our speaker – Igor Vinogradov (The Chief Operating Officer of Glogos LLC) talked about how we manage to optimize processes that, at first glance, are not amenable to optimization: project logistics, in which many cargoes are transported for the first time in history, and most of the units require a purely unique solution for the success of transportation. Together with us, among the speakers were such respected companies as Ahlers, Eurosib-Logistics and GMCS.
