RDC Aqualines is the research and development company (design bureau), specialized in high-speed marine transport solutions. The main activities of the company are concentrated in the field of research and development, prototyping and trials, manufacturing and operation of the high-speed water and amphibious transport vehicles. The core business idea is the fulfillment of the gap between aviation

(high speed/cost/complexity) and seafaring (low speed/cost/complexity) with the intermediate product niche that would match the demand of the transport operators seeking for the high-speed solution of relative simplicity and cost efficiency. The portfolio of projects includes two main concepts of transport vehicles:
- Ground-effect-vehicle (WIG-craft);
- Advanced hydrofoil vessels (wave-piercing-hull). The potential product lines based on these concepts aimed for the variety of application segments: Leisure craft/watersports; Passenger and cargo transport (ferry lines; tourism industry; the oil&gas industry as the particular segments); Special purpose craft (search-and-rescue operations at sea; patrol and coast guard operations). RDC Aqualines was established in 2013 and now has the extensive network of partners, contractors and interested customers around the world. The company is recognized as a capable and reliable developer by specialized research institutions and manufacturing facilities in Russia. The region of Southeast Asia is considered to be the most prospective market for the company’s products according to the statistics of the incoming customer inquiries. The company has its corporate hub in Singapore, while the key development and manufacturing procedures are concentrated in Russia.

Technology origins

HISTORY First ekranoplans were constructed in our city by the famous Russian designer and inventor, Rostislav Alexeyev, in the 60s in the 20th century. There were several generations of ekranoplans developed in his design department; subsequently, they were constructed and successfully operated. At that time the technology was intended for military purposes and was secret. At the end of his life and career, Alexeyev tried to create an ekranoplan for passenger transportation, but he did not manage to realize the idea. Based on a rich scientific and technical groundwork, preserved in Nizhnyi Novgorod, we now strive to transform ekranoplans for commercial use in the modern transportation industry. TEAM RDC Aqualines project work unites different aviation and shipbuilding experts. In addition to the company’s full-time employees, within the framework of this project, we cooperate with a vast network of contractors and partners from scientific institutions and design offices, aviation building enterprises, with the experts from experimental aviation and professional test pilots. The network approach to team building allows us to involve the best competencies in different fields promptly.
