Artel Troika

Artel Troika For ten years, we have been putting together personal itineraries for foreign travellers. What is « Artel Troïka » ? And Troika? (...) Where are you running?

Already 20,000 clients have discovered Russia through us, touring the most famous sites, to make their own opinion of the world’s biggest country. The image of Russia abroad is marked by a thousand clichés that could deter the most adventurous of travellers. We know that the cold climate stereotype can be discouraging, the rumours of dangers can be scary and the perceived Russian personality off-p

utting. This is precisely why we decided to show Russia, the real one, the one we grew up with – the one we know and we love. For seven years, we have been putting together personal itineraries for foreign travellers. Already 15,000 clients have discovered Russia through us, touring the most famous sites, to make their own opinion of the world’s biggest country. In the past, « artel » was a group of independent workers, craftsmen and painters. With this word, we want to highlight our main skill: the expertise of all our partners from across Russia. It is the most famous metaphor of author Nikolai Gogol. In his book “Dead Souls”, he compares the whole country to a troika, which is a sleigh pulled by three horses. “And you, Russia, do you not fly like an ardent troika who cannot escape? Answer. – No answer,” Gogol wrote. Our services are adapted to the curious, those who seek to go beyond tourist scenery to discover the country off the beaten track through encounters with locals. We encourage our travellers to learn some everyday expressions in Russian like “dobri dien » (hello in Russian), without losing their foreign accent that softens the toughest of locals. The country that solicits so many questions for visitors opens itself upon arrival to reveal its warm, complex, poetic… and even mysterious side.

At that very moment, not all Russian regions are requiring a QR code for check-in at hotels and restaurants, but it's already the rule in Carelia and Krasnodar region. We will keep you updated.

if you have your Russian QR code (we know it wasn't easy to get it 🤬), think in advance about planning some getaways from Moscow.

🚤 The mouth of the Volga, just south of Astrakhan, is the biggest delta in Europe. It is easy to get lost in the reeds and bulrushes of the many streams and rivers. Hundreds of birds nest around the delta because it is a rich source of fish.

🌱 From the beginning of July to the end of August, the coast of the Caspian sea is covered in a thick carpet of oriental lotus flowers (Nelumbo nucifera). This 15km long display is the northernmost exhibit of these pale pink flowers in the world. Best admired in the morning when the lotus is fully open and turned to the sun.

MOSCOW by local experts

Discover French Impressionism collection with Art Historian Alexey Petukhov

👉 Do you know that among other treasures Moscow has a unique collection of French Impressionism masterpieces? The famous collection of the Pushkin Fine Arts Museum once belonged to the legendary Moscow collectors Sergei Shchukin and Ivan Morozov. It features world-famous works by Monet, Renoir, Degas, Cézanne, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Matisse and Picasso.

😊 The good news is we are very excited to announce the only one tour in English with its curator Alexei Petukhov, Ph.D. in History of Art and expert of Modern French Painting Collection. This tour is a part of our new project “Moscow by local experts”.

🙁 The bad news is that the collection will leave the museum end of March and will be on tour for several months. Our expert-led tour with Alexey Petukhov is a unique opportunity to see the collection before it.

🗒 March 27 next Saturday at 11:30
Only 15 tickets are available
The tour price is 3000 rubles
Duration 2 hours.

Dear friends,

We would like to express our support for you during these difficult times.

We know that many of you have been forced to reconsider your plans and cancel your trips that you had planned. We understand your disappointment and share your sorrow.

At Artel Troika, we are continuing to work and develop fascinating trips around Russia for you.

This is because we are convinced that the crisis will pass by, and we will come out of it even more hardy, more unified, and ready to explore the world in all its diversity.

In order to do our small part in the battle against coronavirus, we encouraged our staff to work from home. At this very moment, they are creating the best custom-made trips to the most remote and tranquil corners of Russia, such as the Altai Republic or the ‘quiet’ shore of Lake Baikal in Buryatia.

While you wait for the storm to pass, we suggest that you read our articles about Russia.

After all, even if it’s hard for you to come here now, you can certainly dream about it!
