Our family of companies extends its congratulations to the Universidad Politécnica de Puerto Rico on the successful Masterclass held this morning at its Hato Rey campus.
The event brought together key stakeholders from across the entire supply chain, including academics, government officials, and elected leaders such as Senator Ángel Toledo López. We express our gratitude to Senator Toledo for his commitment, following our request, to soon file legislation in the Senate of Puerto Rico designating the supply chain as first responders during atmospheric or seismic events, such as those experienced in recent years.
“This is a victory for all of Puerto Rico, as our companies operated without pause during events such as Hurricane Maria. Designating the supply chain as first responders in Puerto Rico guarantees the immediate operational continuity of docks and distribution centers following a natural disaster. This designation grants preferential access to fuel and power to safeguard perishable food and pharmaceuticals. Furthermore, it enables freight carriers to move without restrictions during curfews and road closures. It will also expedite cargo dispatch at critical ports through streamlined customs procedures and access to emergency telecommunications networks. Ultimately, this measure prevents island-wide shortages, curbing panic buying and price gouging on essential goods,” stated María Caraballo, President and CFO of Intership, International Public Terminal, Sea Air Systems, and Oceanic General Agency.
We remain fully committed to modernizing infrastructure and deploying advanced technologies across our industry, ensuring Puerto Rico continues to position itself as a leading logistics and supply chain hub.
