This kind of waffle gets right under my skin!!
I see so many “professional travellers” counting countries like notches on their bedposts, telling people that a holiday doesn’t count as real travelling…
oh bore off 🙄
Travel isn’t a competition, and it definitely isn’t one-size-fits-all.
Here’s how to make sure you’re being influenced by the right people for you 👇
1️⃣ Redefine what “travelling” actually means
Travelling can be a weekend city break, a family holiday, a luxury escape, a cruise, Lapland with kids, or backpacking with a rucksack. If you’ve left your routine and experienced somewhere new — congratulations, you’re travelling.
2️⃣ Train your algorithm (it’s listening 👀)
Engage with content that matches your lifestyle and travel style.
Love slow travel, comfort, great food, family-friendly trips or well-planned itineraries? Like, save and follow that.
Not the “slept on a bus floor for character development” crowd if that’s not your vibe.
3️⃣ Call it what you want — it’s personal
Travel, holiday, trip, break, escape… the label doesn’t matter.
What matters is how it makes you feel. Don’t let anyone gatekeep joy or rest.
4️⃣ Any break from routine counts
Time away resets the nervous system, builds confidence, strengthens relationships, and gives your mind and body room to breathe.
You don’t need chaos or discomfort for it to be “valid.”
5️⃣ Be mindful of who’s influencing you
If someone’s content makes you feel judged, inadequate, or like you’re “doing travel wrong” — they’re probably not for you.
Influence should inspire, not shame.
✨ Travel isn’t about ticking boxes, proving something, or impressing strangers on the internet.
It’s about you, your season of life, and what fills your cup.
And yes — holidays absolutely count 💛✈️
