Lets do some investigation :

Case Study :

Immediately after take off, one fighter aircraft crashed about 5 Km away from the runway. On wreckage site, flaps of Right and Left Wings are found : Left Wing Flaps partially flushed and Right Wing at 15 degrees down state. Wreckage suggested that the aircraft was in left roll when it hit the ground.

Please write briefly:
1. What was your opinion after finding flaps as mentioned?
2. What else did you find out at wreckage site to confirm or deny your opinion?
3. Did you find conclusive evidence at wreckage site or resort to further examination?
4. What would you suggest to your colleagues as to what course of action they should follow in such cases' investigation?
5. Any other suggestion or recommendation?

HOW TO BECOME AN AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT INVESTIGATOR;

The question is very pertinent and was asked by one of the aspirant readers of my page. Another one commented that he knew what kind of investigations are done in Pakistan and that he could also do same kind of investigations; whom I have requested to review the Bhoja Aircraft Crash Investigation Report, available on CAA website, and come up with the flaws observed in that.

I have therefore given my experience highlights just to give an idea how much does it take to become an aircraft accident investigator.

I just want to add here that it is extremely painful to see the aircraft crash sites, particularly those which have fatalities also. With those painful scenes in mind, I don't believe that any aircraft accident investigator would deliberately avoid to find out the factual cause(s) of accident. However, they are also human beings and can make mistakes owing to lack of evidence, training, experience or resources. So, the best option is to engage the experienced aircraft accident investigators and benefit from their experience.

QUALITY OF INVESTIGATION;
A TOOL TO PREVENT FUTURE ACCIDENTS
It is often observed that the people directly linked with aviation business do not appreciate the importance of good quality of investigation. Instead, they tend to focus more on recovery of aircraft for operational and commercial reasons. In this process they overlook to preserve the critical evidence and even lose it altogether at times. Hence, the quality of investigation is compromised and the latent hazard stays to cause another accident, likely to be severer than the previous one.
LESSON: Efforts be to investigate the present occurrence meticulously and prevent similar impending occurrences.
