In view of the importance of training, education and management in the transport sector, the department of economics, University of Karachi in collaboration with Chartered Institute of Transport, Pakistan initiated a Post Graduate Diploma Course in transport in 1986. Many batches have so far passed out and the successful participants are making a useful contribution of their studies in the transpo
rt sector. The success of the Diploma program has encouraged the Department to introduce a Postgraduate Degree Program in Transport Management viz. Few batches have already passed out under this program and are playing important role in Transport sector. MTM program focus on policy, strategic planning and management; developing specialist skills in: applying concepts, techniques and principles that underlie transport management; understanding the relationships between government agencies and the private sector in the provision, financing, operation and maintenance of transport networks; using contemporary modelling techniques and data collection processes to solve problems in transport management, planning and analysis; and managing the impacts of future trends in transportation. MTM in Transport Management consists of 20 courses (60 semster credits) spread over four semsters of two years duration. In all courses of studies , semster system is followed and examinations are conducted as per rules of the karachi University. Following is the semster wise detail of the courses:
