From the first night of Muharram until the day of Ashura, millions around the world gather to remember the unmatched courage, patience, and faith of the martyrs of Karbala. The tragedy of Karbala took place on the 10th of Muharram, 61 AH (680 CE), on the plains of Karbala in present day Iraq. It was fought between Imam Hussain (AS), the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and the forces of Yazid ibn Muawiyah.

What followed was not just a battle, but a timeless stand for truth, justice, and unwavering faith.

Among Imam Hussain's (AS) small caravan stood around 72 loyal companions. They faced an army thousands strong, knowing well that the path before them would lead to martyrdom, yet not one chose to turn away.

Their strength was never in numbers. It was in their conviction that truth is worth every sacrifice.

In the year 61 AH (680 CE), Imam Hussain (AS) departed from Makkah with his family and companions after receiving countless letters from the people of Kufa, who pledged their support and invited him to lead them.

However, by the time Imam Hussain (AS) approached Iraq, the situation had changed. The promises of Kufa had faded under pressure, and a difficult trial awaited him on the plains of Karbala.

Despite knowing the risks ahead, Imam Hussain (AS) remained firm on his mission. His journey reminds us that standing for truth is not determined by the response of others, but by the strength of one's own principles.
