A serious mid-air collision was narrowly avoided over London when a Qatar Airways flight on its final approach to Heathrow Airport came dangerously close to a British aircraft that had just taken off from London City Airport.

⚠️ Air traffic controllers acted swiftly to prevent a potential disaster in one of the world’s busiest airspaces. An investigation is now underway.

✈️ Thankfully, all passengers and crew are safe.

The British Airways has planned to restore Pakistan flights from August after suspension due to coronavirus outbreak.

The airlines in a letter penned to the Islamabad airport manager, has sought details of the arrangements before resumption of the flight operation.

The authorities have been asked to give details about cleanness arrangements at the airport and facilities available there to ensure safe landing of the its planes.

“Ensure that fix bridges connected with the planes are safe to use”, the letter read. British Airways will operate weekly three flights for Islamabad, sources privy to the development said.

Over three dozen passengers aboard a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight were offloaded after one of them mistakenly opened the emergency door of the aircraft on the runway at Manchester airport, the national carrier said on Saturday.

“The PIA flight, PK 702, from Manchester to Islamabad was delayed by seven hours. The departure was delayed on Friday night when a passenger erroneously opened the emergency exit causing the emergency chute to activate,” said a PIA spokesperson.

“As per standard operating procedure, the PIA had to offload nearly 40 passengers and their luggage,” he added.

The world's largest airplane — a behemoth with two fuselages and six Boeing 747 engines — has made its first test flight in California. The mega jet carried out its maiden voyage over the Mojave desert.

It is designed to carry into space, and drop a rocket that would in turn ignite to deploy satellites. It was built by an engineering company called Scaled Composites.

The aircraft is so big its wing span is longer than a football field, or about 1.5 times that of an Airbus A380. Specifically, the wing span is 117 meters; that of an Airbus is just under 80.
