An unexpected avalanche has struck below Lower Camp 3 at an altitude of around 6,600 meters. The avalanche involved ten climbers from different expedition outfitters and different nationality.

Two members of our team are also involved in the incident and are still out of contact. The home team monitoring one of our climbers' InReach device has reported a slight movement signal, giving us hope.
Meanwhile, our team member Waqar Ali, together with Sono Sherpa and two local climbers, has recovered four bodies from the base of the avalanche, opposite Broad Peak Base Camp. The victims were carried down by the avalanche.

Two helicopters, carrying Sirbaz Khan and Sherzad, have departed to conduct an aerial search for the remaining missing climbers.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of everyone affected by this tragic accident. We hope for the safe recovery of those who are still missing

Correction: The avalanche debris brought down many belongings of the missing climbers, including tents, backpacks, mattresses, and other equipment. This led to an incorrect count and initially suggested that four bodies had been recovered.

The actual recovery is two complete bodies and a part of the body of another climber.

Part 2 ,The Strength Behind the Success: A Tribute to Our High-Altitude Team
High-altitude mountaineering is never the achievement of one individual. It demands exceptional teamwork, physical strength, technical expertise, and unwavering determination. Every member of the expedition plays a vital role, especially when facing extreme weather, deep snow, and the constant risks of climbing above 7,000 meters.
As mentioned earlier, our team spent three demanding days breaking trail through deep, soft snow following heavy snowfall. Every meter of progress required immense effort, discipline, and commitment. The success of this expedition is a direct result of the extraordinary teamwork displayed by every member.
Mansoor Karim proved himself to be an exceptionally strong young climber. This was his first expedition with Karakorum Expeditions and his first experience on an 8,000-meter mountain especially rope fixing. From the beginning, he demonstrated remarkable grit, stamina, and determination. He participated in rope fixing above Camp 2 and later led the rope-fixing work above Camp 3, tirelessly breaking trail through deep, soft snow. During the final summit push above 7,400 meters, after the lead climbers had opened the route, Mansoor completed the remaining finishing work on the anchors with great professionalism. Carrying heavy loads and performing demanding technical work at such altitude requires outstanding skill and commitment, and he exceeded all expectations.
Zaman Karim is truly a powerhouse of the mountains. His exceptional strength in breaking trail through deep snow and carrying heavy loads made him one of the strongest members of the expedition. From the very first day until the summit, his contribution was extraordinary. His endurance, reliability, and relentless work ethic played a major role in the team's success.
Sayed Karim, affectionately known as the "Shimshal Express," was another key pillar of the expedition. Breaking trail through deep, soft snow became his responsibility, and he carried it out with remarkable efficiency. His efforts up to approximately 7,400 meters significantly eased the work of the team and demonstrated his outstanding strength and experience.
Afreen Shah is one of the most senior and dependable members of Karakorum Expeditions. Since joining the company in 2015, he has consistently demonstrated professionalism, honesty, and dedication. Throughout the expedition, Afreen continuously encouraged and motivated the team, providing both physical support and the positive spirit that is essential during demanding climbs.
Liaqat Karim delivered an outstanding performance while leading the rope-fixing work from Camp 1 to Camp 2. This was his first experience leading a rope-fixing operation, and he embraced the challenge with confidence and enthusiasm. He particularly enjoyed breaking trail through deep snow below Camp 2, setting a strong pace and leading from the front with energy and determination.
Daulat Muhammad is a quiet, humble, and highly dependable mountain professional. Although soft-spoken, his contribution was invaluable. Whenever heavy loads needed to be carried under difficult conditions, Daulat was always ready. His consistency, strength, and reliability made him an essential member of the team.
Mosif Ur Rehman (Naureen) embraced the challenges of high-altitude mountaineering with confidence and enthusiasm. Despite being relatively new to the world's highest mountains, he eagerly learned from his senior teammates. He completed multiple carries to Camps 2 and 3 and spent two nights at Camp 3 while supporting the expedition. His passion for climbing continues to grow, and he is highly motivated for future high-altitude adventures.
Nawaz Ali Khan is one of the kindest and most humble individuals on the team. His passion and excitement for mountaineering are truly inspiring. Although many of us had not known him before this expedition, he quickly became a valued member of our mountain family. Quiet, respectful, and determined, Nawaz never surrendered despite the many challenges he faced. His successful summit is proof that passion, commitment, perseverance, and continuous effort always bring rewarding results.
The Unsung Heroes at Base Camp
No expedition succeeds without a dedicated support team. Our Base Camp staff, especially our kitchen team, worked tirelessly throughout the expedition to prepare fresh, hygienic, and nutritious meals every day. Their dedication ensured that our climbers remained healthy, energized, and ready to face the extreme demands of the mountain.
Long days in freezing temperatures, combined with physically exhausting work at high altitude, require proper nutrition and care. The outstanding efforts of our kitchen staff made a tremendous difference to the team's performance and morale.
We extend our deepest gratitude to every member of our Base Camp team for their hard work, delicious meals, and unwavering support. Their contribution was every bit as important as the work carried out on the mountain itself.
This expedition stands as a testament to the strength, resilience, professionalism, and unity of the indigenous high-altitude mountaineers of Pakistan. Every member contributed selflessly, proving that great achievements are built through teamwork, trust, and shared determination.
