Courage Beyond the Call of Duty | Sohail Sakhi’s Final Recovery

Three brave young men from Shigar — Muhammad Nadeem, Muhammad Bashir, and Abu Zar — spent nearly two relentless hours carrying out a voluntary recovery operation at Broad Peak Camp 1, successfully bringing back the body of Pakistani mountaineer Sohail Sakhi.
In the harsh and unforgiving environment of the Karakoram, their courage, humanity, and selfless service stand as a powerful example of compassion and brotherhood.
Their efforts deserve our deepest respect and gratitude.

Sohail Sakhi’s Body Recovered from Broad Peak

The Alpine Club of Pakistan has confirmed the recovery of the body of Pakistani mountaineer Sohail Sakhi, who lost his life in the recent Broad Peak avalanche.

A team of brave local volunteers from Shigar, searching the area on their own initiative, discovered his remains. Muhammad Nadeem, Muhammad Bashir and Abuzar, all from Tissar, Shigar, first spotted the body and alerted others. Together with fellow volunteers, they carried the body from Camp 1 down to Base Camp.

Their courage, compassion and selfless service have given Sohail Sakhi’s family the opportunity to bring him home and say their final goodbye. Their humanitarian effort will be remembered with deep respect.

Our heartfelt condolences and prayers are with Sohail Sakhi’s family, friends, fellow climbers and the entire mountaineering community during this painful time.

چپورسن وادی ایک بار پھر شدید زلزلہ خیز صورتحال سے دوچار — فوری امداد کی اپیل

چپورسن ویلی میں گزشتہ کئی دنوں سے مسلسل زلزلے کے جھٹکوں، زمین میں دراڑوں کی آوازوں اور پہاڑوں سے بڑے پیمانے پر پتھر گرنے کے واقعات نے شہریوں میں شدید خوف و تشویش پیدا کر دی ہے۔

13 اگست کی صبح تقریباً 5:35 بجے آنے والے شدید زلزلے کے جھٹکے کے بعد یسخوک، زودخون، شاتمرگ، اسپنج اور شیری سبز کے علاقوں میں شدید لینڈ سلائیڈنگ اور چٹانیں گرنے کی اطلاعات موصول ہوئی ہیں۔ کئی گھروں اور دکانوں کو نقصان پہنچنے یا منہدم ہونے کی اطلاعات ہیں، جبکہ شاتمرگ جماعت خانہ کی پہلے سے کمزور دیوار بھی گر گئی۔

متعدد آفٹر شاکس کے باعث متاثرہ خاندان دوبارہ خیموں میں منتقل ہونے پر مجبور ہیں، جبکہ پہلے سے متاثرہ گھروں میں دراڑیں مزید بڑھ رہی ہیں۔

مقامی آبادی کا کہنا ہے کہ ابتدائی تباہی کو تقریباً ایک سال گزرنے کے باوجود انہیں مناسب رہائش اور بحالی کی سہولیات فراہم نہیں کی گئیں۔ سردیوں کی آمد سے قبل خصوصاً اسکولوں، گھروں اور دیگر کمزور عمارتوں کے لیے فوری اقدامات ناگزیر ہیں۔

📢 حکومت، ضلعی انتظامیہ، این جی اوز اور عالمی امدادی اداروں سے اپیل ہے کہ چپورسن ویلی کا فوری طور پر زمینی دورہ کیا جائے، متاثرین کو ہنگامی پناہ گاہیں فراہم کی جائیں اور کسی بڑے سانحے سے قبل مؤثر حفاظتی و بحالی اقدامات کیے جائیں۔

🤲 اللہ تعالیٰ چپورسن کے عوام کو اپنی حفظ و امان میں رکھے اور ہر قسم کی قدرتی آفت سے محفوظ فرمائے۔
