BARUNO THE CLINGY DOG

Isa si BARUNO sa mga stray dogs na pinapakain ko madalas in Vito Cruz noong nakatira pa ako doon. Ngayong malayo na ako, once a week ko na lang siya napupuntahan.

True enough na madali silang makatanda at maka-recognize ng mga tao na may malasakit sa kanila. BARUNO is just one proof of that. Sa twing dumarating ako dati sa condo, sumasalubong siya kaagad kapag nakita niya ang sasakyan ko sabay akyat sa 6th floor kung saan ako nagpa-park. Minsan naman, umaga pa lang nasa parking na para mag-abang kasi alam niya kung anong frequent time ako bumababa for work. Hinahayaan lang siya ng mga guards ng condo umakyat sa parking kasi alam nilang pinapakain at inaalagaan ko siya.

One time, nagkahulihan ng mga stray dogs sa area para dalhin sa pound at isa siya sa mga nahuli. Buti na lang natubos siya kasama ng ibang barkada niya na mga strays din sa area. After noon parang na-trauma siya sa mga sasakyan kaya ang ginawa namin ay isakay siya sa sasakyan gabi-gabi para ikot-ikot lang in the area hanggang sa mawala ang takot niya. Ngayon balik sa normal na siya at siya na ulit ang pinakaastig na stray sa area.

DISCLAIMER: Hindi ko siya pwede i-rescue at isama sa tinitirhan ko kasi bawal ang mga a*o, marami din akong rescued cats, at may nag-aalaga sa kanya na isang nanay na nagtitinda lang sa gilid ng kalsada. Kaya ganun lang ang arrangement namin ni BARUNO.

She shows up at night for a meal and stays on the prism to guard our house then leaves in the morning after a meal. That’s her routine and we just let her do so with some other strays some time.

RUN FREE AND CLIMB HIGHER IN PAWRADISE MY INFINITY!

I named you INFINITY despite knowing the fact that your life is FINITE. But I never expected that you’d live this short. You were one of the healthiest, most active, and most playful rescues I had. You loved to climb on the windows, walls, and doors to welcome me whenever I would arrive home. You, my rescues, are my home and you proved it that way everyday. Unfortunately, battling a Parvo virus is such a difficult battle that most of the time, we end up at the losing end.

Still fresh in my mind how you would steal the BABY ANGLES from mama ANGLES when they were still weeks old and put them on a box where you would assume as their mother. You were assuming, INFO!

You grew up together with HYPOTHESIS and ADDITION since you were rescued days apart when you three were still kittens, but I never expected that you’d die 7 days apart from the death of ADDITION and 4 days apart from the BABY ANGLES. We are in grief! I am in grief!

WE WILL MISS YOU SO BADLY. UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN, INFO!

They are cold. They are hungry. They are alone. Every day is a quiet battle just to stay alive, to find warmth, to ease the ache in their empty stomachs. They didn’t choose this life, they were born into it, abandoned into it, forced to learn survival before safety or trust.

And still, they are punished just for trying to survive. Chased away, ignored, sometimes hurt, simply for existing in places they were never meant to endure alone. The world can be cruel to those with no voice, and loneliness weighs heavier when kindness feels so far away.

Please be kind to stray animals. A small act, a bowl of food, a moment of patience, a gentle heart, can change everything for a life that has so little. Some will make it, some won’t, and some will cross the Rainbow Bridge too soon. Choosing compassion is how we make sure their suffering is seen, and their lives matter.

ORIGIN and SOLUTION 😭

Our hearts are still heavy and broken from the death of ADDITION last January 3 and of RIGHT ANGLE and STRAIGHT ANGLE last January 6, but it is still not over. Yesterday, January 7, it was ORIGIN and SOLUTION, two healthy kittens who used to be playmates of ADDITION in our room.

ADDITION was rescued more than 2 years ago (December 3, 2023). ORIGIN was rescued approximately 3 months ago (September 29, 2025), so thin and so small but grew so fast due to constant feeding and genuine care. SOLUTION was rescued more than a month ago (November 27, 2025), too afraid of anyone but became so sweet and clingy after few days of care and compassion.

YOU WILL BE MISSED BADLY BABIES! UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN.

THE LOST OF THE BABY ANGLES

Hindi pa nga tayo nakakamove on sa pagkamatay ni ADDITION noong Jan 3, kayo naman RIGHT at STRAIGHT ANGLES ang sumunod after 3 days :(

August 14, 2024, I had to rescue a mama cat (I named her ANGLE) and her 1 month old injured kitten na pinangalanan ko namang MEASURE sa Perpetual campus kasi bawal na sila doon. I brought them sa condo sa Manila kung saan ako nangungupahan kasama ng iba pang rescues. Pero hindi ko alam na buntis pala si mama ANGLE. A month after and 2 days, September 16, mama ANGLE gave birth to 4 healthy kittens na halos pare-pareho ang itsura like MEASURE. I named them RIGHT ANGLE, STRAIGHT ANGLE, OBTUSE ANGLE, and ACUTE ANGLE para in coordination pa din sa pangalan ng mama nila.

Naging malusog at masigla until Parvo Virus hit the rescues. Unang tinamaan si OBTUSE ANGLE na namatay noong October 3, 2025. Sumunod naman si ACUTE ANGLE noong DECEMBER 23, 2025. And just today, just few hours apart, sina RIGHT naman at STRAIGHT RESPECTIVELY. Hanggang sa huling sandali, sinamahan pa din ni STRAIGHT si RIGHT.

Sorry mama ANGLE. Wala na akong nagawa to save your babies sa dami ng mga nagkakasakit.

May you rest and enjoy playing in Pawradise Addition!

Your passing away Dition really broke our hearts into pieces. We did not expect it. You were the jolliest and most playful among the rescues just last Monday, and now you are gone. Parvo took your life and broke our hearts. It’s full moon tonight, the night of your death. It’s beautiful like you are.

I named you ADDITION because you are a Persian cat unlike any other rescues that we have. So you are like an addition literally. When we rescued you, you were too small and too thin (bones and furs). But you grew to be healthy and very fined lady. You were stunning!

We hope that you enjoyed every minute of every day that we spent for more than two years together with the other rescues.

Despite our tight budget, we still chose to buy expensive foodies for you because you were very picky eater. And I believe the other rescues enjoyed it, too because they got the chance to eat them, too.

products became part of everyday meals for all because of you.

We love you, ADDITION! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH ADDITION BABY!

Send our hugs and kisses to our other rescues who passed away ahead of you. Please tell them that we love you, all!

Our time will come and I do hope that we’d meet again in PAWRADISE!
