Why are you Japanese people like this? 😭🇯🇵
True story.
This is already my 3rd time in Japan, but until now, there are still some train stations that I struggle to understand—especially stations like Ikebukuro and Shinjuku station. 😂
One time, I asked a Japanese woman if she knew Sakado Station, which was my destination.
Because of the language barrier, we had a hard time understanding each other. While she was trying to figure out what I was asking, she even used ChatGPT to translate what she wanted to say and typed the location on her phone.
Then suddenly, her train arrived.
But because she still hadn’t finished helping me, she actually let her train leave without her. 😭
Then another train arrived on the opposite side. She hurriedly pointed at it and told me to get on. When she noticed that I wasn’t sure if it was the correct train, she got on with me—even though it wasn’t the train she was supposed to take.
Then… we eventually realized that we had both gotten on the wrong train, and I was getting even farther away from my destination.
And her response?
“I’ll go with you until you reach the correct destination.”
I was shocked. And honestly, I felt so embarrassed! 😭
I kept telling her, “No, no, you don’t have to do that!” But she still insisted on accompanying me.
And this isn’t even the first time I’ve experienced something like this from Japanese people.
The kindness, patience, and willingness to help a complete stranger, even with a huge language barrier, really amazed me.
Japan, why are you like this? 😭❤️🇯🇵
I came here for the trains and the food… but somehow, I keep going home with stories about the kindness of strangers. 🥹🇯🇵
