TIPS FOR TRAVELING WITH A BABY/TODDLER 🤱🏻
✈️ BOOKING A FLIGHT✈️
TIP 1: Book a flight that will align with the sleeping schedule of your baby. It’s better and more calm to travel with a sleeping and a well-rested baby. 😴
TIP 2: On a regular airfare, book a flight without a seat or “infant on lap” for your baby. If you are going to purchase from a seat sale, baby with seat or “infant with seat” is cheaper regardless if your baby is able to use their seat or not. 💰
TIP 3: Avoid the hustle in carrying along so many baby stuff. Don’t forget to add a prepaid baggage for your baby’s stuff that you do not need during the flight. 💼
TIP 4: You do not need to add extra prepaid baggage for the weight for their stroller. As long as you are traveling with an infant (2yo below), it is considered as hand carry. Just make sure you have a stroller cover for sanitary purposes. For toddlers 2yo and above, you might need to add an extra prepaid baggage for it.
TIP 5: Window seat! If you have an extra budget to spare, purchase a window seat for you and your child. Otherwise, go early at the airport for your check-in and humbly ask the ground stewardess to change your seats, but take note that they cannot guarantee your preferred seats. 💺
✈️ FLYING WITH THE BABY/TODDLER✈️
TIP 1: Bring along their favorite toys or books that will keep them entertained during pre-departure and during the flight. Do not give all the toys right away. Give it to them one by one so that they have longer time to play with each toy. 🧸
TIP 2: Always make sure they do not have an empty stomach. Bring along their favorite light snacks (as much as possible, not sweets, and not too messy to eat). 🥖
TIP 3: Be the last to board the plane so that they don’t get bored.
TIP 4: Ask assistance from the flight attendants if you need it especially if you are traveling alone with your child. You will need assistance in putting your carry ons in the cabin. However, for your child’s stuff, place them under the chair in front of you for easier access. 🧳
TIP 5: During take off and landing, nurse or feed your baby so that there will be lesser chances of pressure impact on their ears. If they refuse to be fed, a pacifier or something to chew on can be useful too! 🍼
TIP 6: If it is really needed due to uncontrollable tantrums, allow screen-time for them. Be ready by pre-downloading their favorite non-stimulating shows before the flight. Ensure that it is only in low volume so that it won’t bring inconvenience to other passengers. 📱
TIP 7: Never ever sleep on your child if they are awake! Number 1 rule in looking over your child: DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CHILD UNATTENDED. 💤
TIP 8: For long haul flights, if there is a need for diaper change, ask the flight attendants (before take off) where this can take place. 🩲
TIP 9: Keep calm when your child is not calm. Not everyone will understand but its best to keep calm. Do what you think will be effective in keeping your child calm. Walk around the plane if
possible.
