Of Cabie, Leadership and Young Pinileños
The world-acclaimed writer, Bernardo C. Cabie, once said, "Whoever can't foretell footprints and shadows of ascendants shall suffer from direction blows."
For a techy-savvy youth like us, Mr. Cabie sounded like cryptic and puzzling. For us, whose let and right hands always hold the newest versions of Apple gadgets, may seem to be unmindful to such words, but Hey! We, the youth of the new generation will proudly boast to the whole worlds that we live to such words of wisdom. We,as young citizens and inquisitive leaders from Pinili always squeeze ourselves in order to deduce the s***e of this thought.
Perhaps, Bernardo Cabie would like to bear in our mind that our ancestors bequeathed to us the flourishing galore of rich culture and tradition which let us reap the fruits of untarnished heritage and that will make us shine in all parts of the globe. This starts, then, in knowing in depth to who we really are.. who Pinileños really are.
We, Pinileños, are the name of our town implies, are "chosen". We are chosen to be catalysts. We are catalysts to the preservation of traditions although these had begun on the days of yore. We always see to it that these traditions do not die, but will continue to thrive in the tests of times. One of which is the tradition of planting Garlic and Rice. Growing this plant tests the patience and endurance of a mundane Pinileños that despite of meagerness of finance in farming, we always see to it that we produce quality products which will boost our economy; that despite of staying under the blazing and scolding heat of the sun, it is all worth, for we can feed not just only our family, but millions of families in the country.
Time is also the artiness that Pinileños are catalysts towards good governance. As a Proof, youth are being trained to be effective and efficient leaders by encouraging them to be actively involved in leadership group like SIKA. Through this, a Pinileño will help diminish the growing number of leaders who are considered as culprits of the society.
Right now, the Garlic figure raised in the heart of town is wrapped with colors red, blue and white which is a symbol that the young Pinileños join hand-in-hand to the raging and blazing desire of Pinileños for change; blue for maintaining Peace and Harmony among the Filipino; and white for the pledge of being peace and clean leader of society.
Who says, the youth do not listen to words of the aged? I bet our dude Bernardo Cabie might be very proud seeing us listening to our favorite songs in our playlist, while making and developing ourselves into a good catalysts... A better leader... And the best Pinileño.
