Pinabacdao-Borongan International Airport (PBIA) is a project proposal that is once completed will uplift the rapid economic development of the Region of Eastern Visayas and the rest of the philippines. This project is proposed to build the largest airport in the Philippines that will be truly World-Class. This shall be the first international airport in the region that will be serving the areas o
f Pinabacdao, Samar and Borongan City, Samar including nearby urban areas like Metro Tacloban, Ormoc City, Metro Catbalogan and the provinces of Leyte, West Leyte, Southern Leyte, Biliran and North Samar. The Philippine National Government had its plan of developing Tacloban-Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport in Metro Tacloban to become an international gateway. Unfortunately, last November 8, 2013 during the devastation of super typhoon Haiyan, DZR Airport was totally damaged. That is why this project was being proposed. Metro Tacloban is the regional capital of Region VIII and the economy of its nearby localities depends to this metropolitan area. The PBIA Project is still suitable for the continuous development of Metro Tacloban since PBIA is just 30 minutes drive to Tacloban City. Aside from that the airport's proposed location is far from the sea and can still expand if needed. The said airport will also be connected to Borongan City in Eastern Samar where it shares border with Pinabacdao in Samar. Pinabacdao during the past years is not destructed by any typhoon passing through this municipality. And during Haiyan's destruction in Eastern Visayas, the Municipality of Pinabacdao was not much affected. The Pinabacdao-Borongan International Airport should be considered and must be realized in order to embrace development and progress in the entire region as every political leader desires to.
