Weather Advisory: Typhoon Nona

Dear Sir/Madam,

PAGASA has announced in its Severe Weather Bulletin No 10 issued today Typhoon Nona has made landfall over Sorsogon and is moving westward towards Burias Island.

Estimated rainfall amount is from heavy to at times intense within the 300 km diameter of the typhoon.

Flash floods and landslides are expected over the areas under signals no. 2 and no. 3, while the storm surges of up to 3 meters are possible.

Nona is expected to cross Burias Island tonight and pass over Mindoro provinces.

At 4:00 PM today, the eye of typhoon “NONA” was located over Bulusan, Sorsogon with maximum sustained wnds of 150kph near the center and gustiness of 185 kph. It is forecast to move West at 17 kph.

PAGASA has forecast its positions as follows:

• 24 hour (tomorrow afternoon): In the vicinity of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro

• 48 hour (Wednesday afternoon): 245 km West of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro

• 72 hour (Thursday afternoon): 360 km West of Coron, Palawan

• 96 hour (Friday afternoon): 500 km West of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (Outside PAR)

• 120 hour (Saturday afternoon): 900 km West Southwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (Outside PAR)

Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center
and gustiness of up to 160 kph
Movement: Forecast to move Northwest at 22 kph.

Outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) or at 620 km North Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes

WEATHER ADVISORY: TYPHOON FALCON (CHAN-HOM)

Dear Sir/Madam,

According to PAGASA, Tropical Storm Egay has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) yesterday, July 7. All Public Storm Warning Signals have been lifted however flash floods and landslides may still occur in Zambales. Bataan, Pangasinan, Benguet and Ilocos region due to moderate to heavy rains brought about by the Southwest Monsoon.

Today, July 8, PAGASA has released an update that Typhoon Falcon has entered the PAR in the evening of July 7 and is moving west northwest at 20kph.

No public storm warning signal has been raised by PAGASA.

Accordingly, at 4:00am today, the eye of ‘Bagyong Falcon’ was located at 1330 km East Northeast of Aparri, Cagayan or at 1335 km East of Calaya, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.

Typhoon Falcon’s Forecast Positions:
• 24 hour (Wednesday evening, July 8): 965 km East of Itbayat, Batanes
• 48 hours (Thursday evening, July 9): 625 km NorthEast of Itbayat, Batanes
• 72 hours (Friday evening, July 10): Outside PAR or 695 km North of Itbayat, Batanes

Meanwhile, Southwest monsoon (Habagat) is affecting Luzon.

Monsoon rains which may trigger flash floods and landslides will be experienced over the provinces of Mindoro, Palawan, Zambales and Bataan.

Light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will be experienced over Metro Manila, Mindoro, Palawan and Western Visayas.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over the entire archipelago with moderate to rough seas.

However, those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital public services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services.

TROPICAL STORM “EGAY” HAS SLIGHTLY WEAKENED AND SLOWLY MOVING NORTHWARD.

• Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 400 km diameter of the Tropical Storm.

• Tropical storm “Egay” is expected to exit PAR by Thursday evening (July 9).

• Fisher folks and small sea crafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of Luzon.

• Residents in mountainous and low lying areas of the provinces under PSWS #1 & 2 as well as the rest of Northern and Central Luzon, Metro Manila, MIMAROPA and CALABARZON are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.

Location of eye/center: At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm “EGAY” was estimated based on all available data at 155 km Northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte (19.0°N, 119.4°E).

Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph

Forecast Movement: Forecast to move North at 7 kph.

The PAGASA has announced that the Tropical Storm Egay has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on July 2, 2015.

On July 4 PAGASA said at 4:00pm that the eye of the typhoon was at 160 kms. Northeast of Casiguran, Aurora. The storm then was forecast to move northwest at 9kph with maximum sustained winds of 95kph near the center and gustiness of up to 120kph.

Moderate to heavy rainfall was expected within the 400-kilometer diameter of the tropical storm.

Residents in the low-lying and mountainous areas of Metro Manila, MIMAROPA, CALABARZON and Bicol Region were alerted against possible flash floods and landslides.
