TWO-MINUTE READ: China's current cargo handling set-up.
Cargo and traffic situation in China in lieu of celebration of their Golden Week, the National Day of People's Republic of China from October 1 to 8, 2020. Aside from the coming holiday, Chinese ports are facing very serious operations challenge recently. Main ports like Ningbo, Shanghai, and Shenzhen are anticipating operation capacity at full load which results in very big port congestion and vessel delaying that could translate to many affected bookings, or even some may fail to find trucks, fail to stuff on time, or fail to enter into terminal before closing date. Now, many terminals and container yardsโ operation capacity are drawing near to full load. However, these are not the only reasons that create these problems but also many aspects like the following:
1) Chinaโs national holiday is coming soon on Oct 1st-8th; so many factories are rushing to finish stuffing before this period.
2) All shipping lines are facing equipment lack problem. China exporting demanding are booming but overseas countries equipment turnover is very slow due to corona virus and scattered community lockdowns.
3) Due to politics dispute with USA and Taiwan region, Chinese army is launching military exercise in the sea near to Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, and Shenzhen ports. A lot of sea routing has been blocked and all vessels cannot sail according to ETD which results in vessel delay and containers storage problem in the yard.
4) Some shipping lines have voyage omission like HPL and ONE after holiday which tightens the spaces capacity which has been exist.
