Who says you can’t eat gelato for breakfast? In Sicily, it’s perfectly acceptable to enjoy gelato on a brioche in the morning. To celebrate the start of summer and the kids being home from school, I wanted to have a special breakfast outside in the courtyard. I put together this simple recipe that was ready in only 30 minutes—just enough time for me to prepare the espresso and set the table. For this recipe all you need is a blender and some simple ingredients. Feel free to substitute the strawberries for your favorite fruit. Enjoy! 🍓
Strawberry Gelato
4 cups frozen strawberries 🍓
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 small clementine
a splash of heavy whipping cream
1. Place the frozen strawberries in a blender and pulse to blend.
2. Add the other ingredients and blend to combine.
3. Pour the mixture into a pan and place in the freezer for about 30 minutes then serve.
* to make this sorbetto (dairy-free), don’t add the cream
Buon appetito 😍
