๐ May 28, 2025 โ โFrom Sails to Salesโ: A Day of Learning and Sailing โต๏ธ
Last May 28, 2025, the Albay Yacht Club and the MAYON Sailing Club proudly hosted a learning tour for the 3rd and 4th year Entrepreneurship students of Sorsogon State University.
The day started at the AYC Clubhouse at Pacific Blue, where Harbormaster James Gabriel Balderama gave an engaging presentation titled โFrom Sails to Sales.โ He introduced the students to the basics of sailing and shared how this simple and fulfilling hobby can also become a sustainable business.
After the lecture, the students proceeded to the shoreline where the hands-on experience began. Seven Oz Goose sailboats, prepared and manned by the Puro Sailors, were launched to take the students out on the water. The Mayon Sailing Club, led by Mark MacNamara, also deployed their Hobie Catamaran, which accommodated more students for the sailing experience.
Even though the wind was light that day, many students expressed how much they enjoyed the calm and exciting sail. It was their first time for many to ride a sailboat, and it made the learning even more memorable.
We would like to sincerely thank Vice Commodore George Nakano and Harbormaster James Gabriel Balderama for their dedication and effort in making this program a success.
Our gratitude also goes to the Puro Sailors for ensuring the safe and smooth sailing of all students, despite the light wind conditions.
Thank you to the Integrated Coastal Resource Management team for the constant support and for keeping everyone safe throughout the activity.
We also thank the nurses from Legazpi City Hospital who stayed on standby to respond in case of emergencies.
Our appreciation extends to Barangay Puro Tanods who helped maintain order and safety during the event.
And a big thank you to the Pacific Blue and Cynthia Curry team for assisting the students and helping ensure the smooth flow of the entire program.
A special thank you to the Legazpi Agriculture Office for generously lending us life vests to help ensure the safety of all participants.
And lastly, a great thank you to Sorsogon State University, especially to Maโam Cris Racelis for giving us this opportunity to share our knowledge and passion in sailing. It was a pleasure to inspire and connect with future entrepreneurs through this meaningful experience.
Maraming salamat po! ๐โจ
