Siquijor: A Rising Star in Philippine Tourism

Despite the recent decline in the Philippine tourism industry, Siquijor has remained steady, standing strong as one of the countryโ€™s rising destinations in the archipelago. While many areas continue to recover, this mystical island has quietly but confidently carved its place on the tourism map, attracting travelers with its natural beauty, rich culture, and authentic island healing experience.

Like any growing destination, Siquijor faces its share of challenges. These issues, however, are not being ignored. The local government, private sector, and tourism stakeholders are working hand in hand to address concerns and build sustainable solutions for the future. This strong collaboration has become one of the islandโ€™s greatest strengths, ensuring that growth is guided, responsible, and inclusive.

Earlier this year, Siquijor gained international attention after being featured by Agoda as a โ€œRising Starโ€ destination, highlighting the islandโ€™s increasing appeal to both local and foreign travelers. This recognition reflected not only growing visitor interest but also the islandโ€™s readiness to welcome guests with improved services and experiences.

Adding to this momentum, Destination Ph has recently commended Siquijor as a rising destination in the Philippines, an affirmation that the islandโ€™s steady progress is being noticed on a national level. Such acknowledgments reinforce Siquijorโ€™s position as more than just a hidden gem, but a destination poised for sustainable growth.

As tourism trends evolve, Siquijor continues to rise, not through hype, but through unity, resilience, and a shared vision for the future. In a time of uncertainty for the industry, the island stands as a reminder that with cooperation and commitment, destinations can still move forward and shine.

Starting December 15, 2025, during the inaugural flight at Siquijor Airport, the Provincial Government of Siquijor will provide free transportation from the airport to the nearest transport hub located at St. Francis of Assisi Church. This service is offered to ensure easier access to various transportation options going to your respective accommodations.

Private pickups will also be allowed within the airport vicinity.

Since there are currently no ordinances authorizing transport groups to operate at the airport, the Provincial Government will temporarily shoulder the responsibility of providing transport services for all arriving passengers. These vehicles will bring travelers directly from the airport to the St. Francis of Assisi Church terminal until formal transport guidelines are established.
