SHARE THIS: "DEFEND YOURSELF AGAINS "LAGLAG BALA"
Air passengers are on alert with reports of the "laglag bala" extortion scheme taking the headlines. Here are some tips on how to deal with the matter.
TIPS:
1. BEFORE GOING TO AIRPORT
Check all your belongings before leaving the house. As much as possible use bags without pockets. Acording to an OFW group most of bullets found in handcarry luggage such as hand bags, backpacks, sling bags and inside the pocket of suitcase.
If going to airport via a cab: Keep an eye on your luggage as the driver put them inside the trunk. (A seaman reported that his friend was almost victimized by the "laglag bala" scheme by a taxi driver who inserted the bullet inside his bag's pocket. The LTFRB has summoned the taxi driver involved in the incident.
2. AT THE AIRPORT
-Always keep an eye on your luggage.
-Never leave your bag unattended.
-As much a possible, don't let anyone else touch your belongings.
3. IF A BULLET FOUND IN YOUR LUGGAGE
-Take a photo of the X-RAY machine showing the bullet.
-Do not allow your bag to be opened without witnesses.
-Call someone who can immediately get a lawyer to go to NAIA for you.

4. ONCE YOUR BAG IS OPENED, NEVER TOUCH THE BULLET
Let the airport police retrieve the bullet inside your bag.
*After the bullet is retrieved, ask the authorities to do a finger print test.
VICTIMS MAY FILE A CASE AGAINST THE AIRPORT PERSONNEL INCLUDING DAMAGES FOR LOST TIME AND INCONVENIENCE.
