Minsan, sa sobrang focus natin sa trabaho at paghahanap-buhay, nakakalimutan natin kung bakit tayo nagsusumikap. Para sa pamilya, di ba? Pero habang abala tayo sa pagtatrabaho, lumalaki na pala ang mga anak natin at hindi na natin mababalikan ang mga panahong iyon.

Hindi naman kailangan ng mamahaling bakasyon o bonggang regalo para mapasaya ang mga bata. Minsan, sapat na yung sabay-sabay kumain, maglaro, o manood ng TV habang nagtatawanan. Yung presensiya mo bilang magulang, yun ang pinakamahalagang bagay para sa kanila.

Maraming tatay at nanay ang nakakaramdam ng guilt kapag hindi nila maibigay lahat ng gusto ng anak. Pero tandaan, mas kailangan ka ng anak mo kaysa sa mga materyal na bagay. Ang oras at atensyon mo, yan ang regalong hindi nabibili.

At sa bawat kwento, tawanan, o simpleng yakap, nabubuo yung pundasyon ng tiwala at pagmamahalan sa pamilya. Yan ang nagbibigay lakas sa mga bata para harapin ang mundo nang may tapang at kabutihan. Sa huli, di lang sila ang natututo, pati tayo bilang magulang.

Kaya sa lahat ng magulang, lalo na sa mga tatay na tulad ko, sana huwag nating kalimutan kung ano ang tunay na sukatan ng tagumpay. Hindi lang yung dami ng pera, kundi kung gaano karaming ngiti at alaala ang naibigay natin sa mga anak natin.
