The local government unit of Valencia, Negros Oriental, has ordered the temporary closure of the Mount Talinis trails.

Mayor Edgar Z. Teves, Jr. signed Executive Order No. 37, Series of 2025, on October 6, 2025, implementing the closure. The order is effective immediately.

The measure was put in place to allow the mountain's ecosystem time to "fully recover" from what the order cites as "significant damage from years of continued human activities." It stresses the need for an "undisturbed season" due to the growing number of climbers contributing to the "detriment of the balance of the ecosystem."

The Philippine National Police and the local Tourism Office are directed to ensure strict adherence to the closure.

Trekkers and outdoor enthusiasts are advised to respect the order and temporarily postpone their climbs.

Under the leadership of Hon. Edgar Z. Teves, Jr., the Municipality of Valencia, Negros Oriental issues Executive Order No. 37, declaring the temporary closure of all Mt. Talinis trails within its territorial jurisdiction.

This proactive move aims to give Mt. Talinis a much-needed period of rest and ecological recovery, ultimately preserving its natural beauty and maximizing the long-term benefits it offers — especially to the Valencianon community.

We seek everyone’s understanding and support in this effort toward environmental preservation and sustainable tourism.

The tragic death of Charlie Kirk reminds us that speaking truth will not always be safe. Jesus Himself told us: “If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you.” — John 15:20

But we are not called to silence out of fear, we are called to boldness in love and truth. The gospel was never meant to be hidden.

Paul declared, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.” — Romans 1:16

History shows us something amazing: when the world tries to silence those who stand for truth, the gospel only spreads further. Stephen’s death in Acts lit a fire that carried the gospel beyond Jerusalem. Paul’s chains gave other believers courage to preach even more boldly. (Philippians 1:14)

The same is true today. What was meant to silence can instead awaken courage in God’s people. Darkness cannot silence the light of Christ.

Be encouraged. Stand firm. Keep shining. And never be ashamed of the gospel. 💪🏻
