The vessel is on a tight schedule. The repair cost seems high right now. Nothing has broken yet — so why spend the money?
Here is why.

Every time maintenance is deferred, three things happen:
1️⃣ The component continues to wear — beyond its optimal service point
2️⃣ Secondary damage begins — worn components stress adjacent systems
