πŸŒ±β™»οΈ From Waste to Growth: Developing Fertilizers from Agricultural Wastes

Throwback to sharing our research on biodegradable packaging from agricultural wastes (rice straws, corn husks, and sugarcane bagasse) during the 7th and 8th Green and Sustainable Chemistry Conference (2023, 2024) organized by the Elsevier Foundation.

Those sessions were rich with insights, especially on waste valorization, transforming what we usually discard into something valuable. The exchanges with fellow researchers reinforced one idea: agriculture holds untapped potential beyond food production. 🌾

Fast forward to 2026, as we work to scale up export-driven crops, we are seeing increasing requirements from global buyers for sustainable agriculture certifications, practices that many of our farmers have already been implementing for decades.

Today, we are advancing this work further by developing products from agricultural wastes, this time, for use in fertilizer production, aligning with:
βœ”οΈ Carbon credit standards
βœ”οΈ Sustainable agriculture certifications
βœ”οΈ Circular and regenerative farming systems

πŸ“’ Calling Farmers and Landowners

Be part of this next step in sustainable agriculture:
🌱 Utilize agricultural wastes more efficiently
🌾 Improve soil health and productivity
🌍 Align with global sustainability standards

πŸ’œπŸ  Bohol Ube Project Team at Ubi Festival🌱

AtoANI together with Eggzos Consulting of the Bohol Ube Project team, had the opportunity to set up a booth and participate the Ubi Festival in Bohol, a celebration of one of the province’s most iconic crops.

We were glad to engage with ube growers from different municipalities, exchange insights with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, and connect with a scientist from Visayas State University specializing in ube production. These conversations strengthen our shared goal of scaling ube production sustainably and strategically. 🌍✨

This reinforces the growing opportunity to align local production with increasing global demand for ube, particularly for export markets.

Be part of the movement to scale ube production and tap into international demand.

πŸ’œπŸ  European Customer Visit: Sample Testing and Collaborators Interview 🌍✨

We recently welcomed another European customer to Bohol to conduct product testing of ube powder samples and interview the team and collaborators of the Bohol Ube Project.

Together with the project team, AtoANI, Eggzos Consulting, and farmer partner from BUGA, along with collaborators from Process Bohol, DTI Philippines Bohol, Bohol Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (BEDIPO), and BISU the visit at Process Bohol site also included interviews and documentation to better understand the people, processes, and impact behind the project.

An evaluation was conducted, where the buyer tested the different sample variants (in powder and dissolved form) based on: Color, Fineness, Solubility, Odor, Taste

This marks another step forward in strengthening global demand and confidence in Bohol’s ube. πŸŒπŸ’œ
