Vintage "Double Shield" Roughout Field Boots Deadstock
Vintage mid-70s to early-80s State-Issued Chinese Geologist / Field Exploration Boots (Deadstock Condition)
Double Shield (双盾) / Shanghai Long March Leather Shoe Factory (上海长征皮鞋厂)
Deadstock / Unworn New Old Stock (NOS)
This is an incredibly rare, historically significant piece of 1970s-80s Chinese industrial gear. Produced by the legendary state-owned Shanghai Long March Leather Shoe Factory under the "Double Shield" trademark, these boots were strictly allocated to geological survey teams, petroleum workers, and wilderness explorers during China's resource mapping boom. Because they were made under a planned economy system, these boots feature over-engineered, heavy-duty construction metrics rarely seen in modern commercial footwear.
Upper Material: Rugged, canvas-lined rough-out suede leather in a beautiful vintage russet brown color.
Sole: This is an authentic, hand-cut upcycled vehicle tire sole. The bottom clearly retains the original tire sidewall text: “TREAD SIDEWALL” and “NYLON PLIES, MAX. LOAD”. This raw, salvaged element perfectly anchors the boots to the resource-scarce mid-1970s era.. Built to offer maximum flexibility for trekking while remaining completely puncture-proof against sharp rocks.
Hardware: Outfitted with structural copper/brass vamp rivets at the high-stress throat seam to prevent blowouts, paired with non-rusting aluminum eyelets.
Construction: Heavy-duty welted construction securing the tire sole to the upper. Includes classic pointed ankle pull tabs.
Profile: Bulbous/"chonky" toe, providing a streamlined silhouette and comfortable forefoot flexion.
Markings: Features the highly sought-after original woven cloth "Double Shield" tongue tag, alongside crisp historical factory stamps on the lining (Size 25, Width 3, and production batch serial).
Internal Verification Stamps: The interior canvas lining features a pristine, original blue ink factory stamp showing the size 25, wide fit profile 3, and the complete state logistical serial number: 8230823 (dating the production precisely to 1982).
These boots are in pristine Deadstock (Unworn) condition. The rough-out leather retains its original texture and has not been treated, altered. The aluminum eyelets, copper rivets, and tire-tread soles are fully intact with no dry rot. A perfect archive or collection piece ready to wear or display.
Measurements & Sizing: Stamped Size: 25 (Centimeters) Perfect fit for those who wear 7E in Red Wing or 8US in sneakers. Footbed length is 26.3 cm.
Fit Profile: These feature a "Type 3" (三型) wide-volume width, designed historically to accommodate thick wool or cotton winter socks.
We've added a cushioned leather liner/insole for maximum comfort and for you to wear it with regular socks.
Weight: 680 grams per pair, or 1.36 kilos for both pairs (considered lightweight compared to most heritage boots which weigh 900grams on average)
Perfect for high-end vintage collectors, military/industrial surplus enthusiasts, or rugged heritage workwear style.
