Tropicair are proud sponsors of Women in Aviation PNG. This is a newly established professional body dedicated to promoting, supporting, and advancing the participation of women in Papua New Guinea’s aviation and aerospace sectors.

Tropicair pilots Melanie Ipatas and Joulia Tengdui were part of the Inaugural International Women’s Day (IWD) event on
the 12th of March, 2026 which formally launched WIA PNG to stakeholders, industry partners, students, and the broader community.

Tropicair's commitment to community engagement and inclusive learning opportunities was reflected last week when they opened their doors to the Academy of Inclusive Learning for a behind the scenes look.

Over two days, groups of special needs students were welcomed with security lanyards before touring the facility to learn about the Engineering and Ground Operations, before being invited into the aircraft cockpits for hands-on experience.

The staff’s warmth, patience, and willingness to answer every question made the experience truly memorable for the students — inspiring them with both knowledge and joy. Head of Administration for the school, Florence Pondo, expressed gratitude for the visit: “Our students don’t often get opportunities like this. Today they had so much fun seeing the planes up close.”
