For over four decades, Aranui Cruises has sailed far beyond the idea of a traditional cruise. It has carried food, supplies, letters, stories, families, and generations of memories across some of the most remote islands of French Polynesia.

Remote, authentic, and still beautifully untouched, the Austral Islands reveal another side of The Islands of Tahiti. And perhaps the most meaningful way to discover them is with Aranui.

Starting in 2027, a new chapter begins with Aranoa, Aranui Cruises’ new mixed passenger-freighter vessel dedicated to these southern islands. Meaning “great awakening,” its name perfectly reflects the experience awaiting travelers.

"I had the privilege of experiencing the Aranui expedition to the Austral Islands.
It was a very transformational journey in that remote part of "The Islands of Tahiti".
As I write these lines, my mind is transported there again and my heart swells with emotion as I reminisce about the particular smell of the fara hinano – the fruit of the pandanus tree –used to make leis in the Austral Islands, the taste of the remu – a local seaweed – of Rimatara, or of the sweet, juicy watermelon in Tubuai, or simply the fresh baked bread of Rapa with its local berry jam and butter melting on the warm bread.
Of course, the beautiful motu piscine in Raivavae cannot be forgotten! I found this place to be the most beautiful of our islands.
The Austral Islands have entered my soul in an unexpected way.
I found Raivavae to be the most beautiful island I have ever seen.
Rimatara is the island that has captured my heart.
Rapa was the island that brought me to tears... and some things cannot be described. They have to be experienced...

Heiva i Tahiti is the soul of Polynesia in motion. Born in 1881, it remains one of the world’s great cultural gatherings, where dance, chants, music, sports, and oral traditions become a living expression of Mā’ohi identity.

On the legendary stage of To’atā in Papeete, hundreds of dancers and musicians will once again carry stories of ancestors, legends, nature, and the sacred connection between people, land, ocean and sky.
Every movement has meaning.
Every chant carries memory.

In the heart of Uturoa, this charming little café has become our favorite stop for coffee and exquisite pastries. Created by Maïre and Nicolas, formerly from Le Taha’a by Pearl Resorts, Bon Apetahi brings a touch of French indulgence to island life on the Ra’iātea waterfront.

A flaky croissant, fresh orange juice, rich coffee… or perhaps one of their irresistible éclairs, especially the vanilla one, our weakness. ✨
