SOL DE MAYO | The name Sol de Mayo literally translated means “Sun of May”. But the Sun of May also represents Inti, the Incan god of the sun.

The sun of May has also been used as a symbol on the first Argentinian coin and as the centre of the flag of Argentina.

And now being the logo of the Catamaran Lagoon 400 “Sol de Mayo”. 🇦🇷

In the Guna Yala community, an original settlement in San Blas, life feels like an eternal paradise with white sandy beaches and turquoise waters.
The landscape seems to shape them into the simplest, humblest, and happiest individuals. Proud of their traditions, they weave their history through Molas. Women, as masters of creation, reflect their unique identity in these colorful textiles.
Their social system, rooted in their own congress beyond Panamanian laws, embraces them in unity. The respect and love for their roots are evident, and I deeply admire their profound connection with nature.
Sometimes, they approach the catamaran, sharing stories, teaching me words in their native language. I’ve learned my name: “NI” (Luna) 🌙
Ati, one of the guys who brings fresh produce, wrote it for me so I’ll never forget. ❤️

En la comunidad Guna yala (comunidad orginiria de San Blas) ✨ se vive en un paraiso constante, con playas de arena blanca y aguas turquesas, pareciera que el paisaje los hace ser las personas mas simples, humildes y felices, ellos orgullosos de sus tradiciones tejen su historia a través de las Molas, las mujeres son maestras de la creación y reflejan su identidad única en estos textiles coloridos. 🎨🫶🏻
Además su sistema social, arraigado en su propio congreso mas allá de las leyes panameñas los abraza en comunidad, se puede observar el respeto y el amor a sus raíces, y tengo una profunda admiración a su conexión con la naturaleza, es realmente increible 🥹
A veces se acercan al catamarán y hablamos un rato, me cuentan sus historias y me enseñan algunas palabras en su idioma Natal, Ya aprendí mi nombre: “NI” (Luna) 🌙
Ati uno de los chicos que nos trae la verdura fresca me lo escribió para que nunca lo olvide ❤️

¿Sabes que son las MOLAS? Es el arte tradicional de la comunidad Guna en Panamá 😍🇵🇦
Son hechas completamente a mano utilizando capas de colores, cosidas entre sí. ✨
Pueden tomar desde unas semanas hasta 6 meses de confección.
Las Molas tienen una gran importancia para los Gunas, porque identifican su tradición y cultura.
Es una pieza muy adquirida como souvenir, suelen acercarse a los barcos a ofrecer su arte! Así que no te preocupes que tendrás Molas para elejir 🌸
Do you know what MOLAS are? It is the traditional art of the Guna community in Panama 😍🇵🇦
They are completely handmade using layers of colors, sewn together. ✨
They can take from a few weeks to 6 months to make.
Molas have a great importance for the Gunas, because they identify their tradition and culture.
It is a very purchased piece as a souvenir, they usually approach the ships to offer their art! So don’t worry, you’ll have Molas to choose from 🌸

Playing and having fun is one of our favorite parts! 🐠
Discovering incredible landscapes under the sea, is one of the most beautiful sensations 😍 When we go with the kids even more, it’s wonderful to see how they are amazed! ✨

⭐️Over time, living aboard leads you to a broader appreciation of our environment and a deeper understanding of how we are intertwined with the world around us. There are no differences between nature and the human being; both have learned to adapt to their environments, both have learned to flow with the sea, and now we speak the same language. In the end, nature has become our teacher 🌊🌸✨
