Whangarei District Airport District Airport that serves Whangarei and the surrounding area. Whangarei Airport is a pleasant airport that is home to several air operators.

Primarily the main use is by the national Air Carrier (Air NZ Link) who operate a freqwuent daily schedule to and from Auckland. On week days an early morning direct flight to Wellington which is also available complimented with a direct return early evening. This is very useful for those attending meetings and getting home in one day. Flight training (fixed wing) is offered by Quantum Aviation Lt

d and the Whangarei Recreatiional Flying Club. Quantum offer full time training courses for those seeking a career as a pilot but the casual recreational pilot is also catered for. Accomadation can be arranged. The recreational Flying Club primarily focus on recreational flying with Microlight class aircraft. Commercial Tandem and sports Sky Diving is offered by Sky Dive Ballistic Blondes who operate two aircraft from Whangarei. Helicopter ops are provided by Skywork Helicopters and Twin Coast helicopters. the latter can also provide helicopter flight training. The airport is a great stop over destination for aircraft heading North with fuel and aircraft maintenace facilities available. The airports near proxmitity to the city makes it an excellent choice for those seeking land based activities. Shops and hotels are within walking distance. From the airport terminal a regular bus service operates into town and of course taxis and rental cars are available. The terminal has a excellent cafe.

We have now acquired our 2nd Rescue Appliance.

This is technically a back up appliance to protect against operational limitations should the main unit (R1) need to be taken out of service for repairs etc.

This appliance (R3) was originally used by the RNZAF but more recently Dunedin Airport.

It is a Unipower purpose built appliance.

On Monday the 28th we Farewell the crew at The Apron Cafe. Big thanks for their time as our Cafe Operator.

On the 29th the Cafe will reopen under a new name. 'Skyline Airport Cafe'. Initially you will see familiar faces as some staff stay will continue on for a while.

On Tuesday Skyline will be open 1st thing at 0500 but for the 1st few days we may close early afternoon whilst we settle in and get more staff on board. After that we will remain open through to 1730 hours.
