People massively underestimate what yacht delivery crews are dealing with in the Red Sea right now. This isn’t a naval task force with armed security onboard — this was a private yacht delivery transiting a live conflict zone during the Iran escalation.
Small boat approaches off Yemen, armed men attempting to force a stop, skipper refusing, parachute flare used defensively to keep them clear. That’s the reality.
From the outside it gets framed as ‘just moving boats around’. In reality, skippers are highly experienced professionals making high-impact decisions in real time, based on years — sometimes decades — of offshore and commercial experience.

The first leg is officially underway as we bring this Oceanis Sense 46 upto the Gold Coast. This is the starting point for a longer delivery up to New Caledonia, and we’re pleased to have the owner joining us for the trip.
At Yacht Delivery Solutions, we often have owners stay on board during transit. It’s a great opportunity for them to learn the systems and handling of their vessel under the guidance of a professional crew before reaching their final destination. Our priority is a safe, educational, and efficient passage, ensuring the boat is fully prepared for the miles ahead in the South Pacific.

The delivery team has touched down in Sydney and wasted no time getting settled aboard this Beneteau Santé 46. First task: a full systems check and provisioning before we head out through the Heads. This is the first leg of a delivery up to Nouméa—a roughly 1,000nm passage that requires a close eye on the East Australian Current and the transitioning weather patterns of the Coral Sea.

Our priority is always the same: a safe, efficient passage that delivers the vessel in better condition than we found it. It’s good to be back on the water in the South Pacific.

Mention the San Diego Yacht Club, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, and the Percy Islands Yacht Club in the same sentence and most people would assume one of them doesn’t belong.

But any serious cruiser who’s spent time offshore knows exactly why it does.

One has America’s Cup history, polished bars, silver trophies, and professional race campaigns. The other is a handmade shack on a remote island off the Queensland coast, built from driftwood, old signs, and whatever passing sailors left behind over decades.

And somehow the Percy Islands Yacht Club still carries the same thing the great yacht clubs do: stories, seamanship, and sailing culture that actually means something.

You arrive by anchoring off a remote island, rowing ashore, and sharing drinks with people who crossed oceans to get there. Every boat leaves something behind — a flag, a plaque, a shirt, a memory.

No marina. No fuel dock. No waterfront development. Just sailors.

Different worlds. Same obsession.

Some deliveries are just miles. Others stay with you forever.

Taking a Seawind 1370 through the Red Sea while missiles, drones, and warships filled the news cycle was one of those passages. Every weather update came with security reports. Every night watch felt sharper.

But the job doesn’t stop because the world gets unstable. You plan properly, route carefully, manage risk, and keep moving.

The crew stayed focused. The boat performed flawlessly. And somewhere between the tension, the long watches, and the endless horizon, the Red Sea still reminded us why we do this.

Professional yacht delivery isn’t tourism. It’s decision-making under pressure, preparation before problems happen, and trust between crew when conditions become uncertain.

Seawind 1370 safely delivered. Onto the next one.

Night watch in the South Pacific.

Middle of the South Pacific, full moon, and not another soul for a thousand miles. This is the part of the job that never gets old. The Samana 59 is tracking perfectly toward NZ, and with this much moonlight, we can see the swells coming from a mile away. It’s quiet, it’s fast, and it’s exactly why we do this.

The Beneteau Oceanis is a staple in the South Pacific for a reason. They are comfortable, predictable, and—as we’re finding out on this run to Airlie—highly efficient when the wind stays behind the beam. We’ve got the kite up and the boat is tracking beautifully through the swell. It’s always a pleasure delivering a vessel that handles the blue water this well.

A Red Sea transit is never a "standard" delivery. It requires a high level of preparation, constant weather monitoring, and a crew that knows how to manage a vessel’s systems over long, demanding miles. We’re currently moving this Seawind 1370 toward Cyprus, ensuring she’s handled with the same precision we bring to our regular runs across New Zealand and the South Pacific. For us, it’s about more than just moving a boat from A to B; it’s about delivering it in better condition than we found it.

Navigating the Suez Canal on a yacht delivery is a total sensory overload. You’re sharing the water with everything from massive container ships to local workboats like this one. It’s a striking contrast to see the hand-painted artwork and grit of the local fleet against the clean lines of the Seawind 1370 we’re currently delivering. Staying focused and managing the traffic is all part of the service when we’re moving boats through these high-traffic global hubs
