I'm fielding a lot of enquiries from the public about what we can all do to increase our food security by growing some produce at home. It seems not only are we panic buying at the shops, but we're also ready to extend our hysteria to panic gardening.

Many of you want to know what you can plant now and harvest as soon as possible. The soil temperature is cooling and that is going to limit how quickly you can grow your own food. I've given it some thought and put this guide together. If I had limited time and space, this is what I would do!
We also have our 'standard' autumn planting guide. For those of you in it for the long haul and increasing food security into the future. However, this short guide focuses on prioritising crops for fast turn around.

There's no such thing as an instant carrot, but following these tips should enable you to harvest some food from your garden in four to six weeks.
