"To the amazing driver we had on our way from CBD to Albany on the NX2. The bus was filled to its capacity and yet she remained friendly and took great care of everyone on the bus. When telling people to please move down the aisle a bit further, she said it in such a humorous yet professional kind way, half the bus started giggling of joy.

Most drivers I encounter are very polite, but I’m very impressed with this lady. This was probably the best ride I have taken." (Abridged)

Severe Weather Update: 5:30pm, Tuesday 21 April

Following the weather downgrade to Orange, bus and train services will be operating to a normal timetable tomorrow.

🚆 We encourage Wairarapa passengers to take the train tomorrow, as Remutaka Hill remains closed.

⛴️ Ferry services tomorrow are weather-dependent. Updates will be provided via service alerts as conditions become clearer.

Severe Weather Update: 11.30am, Tuesday 21 April

🌧️ The Red Heavy Rain Warning has now been downgraded to Orange.

🟠 The Orange Warning remains in place for Wellington (excluding Porirua) until 6pm and for the Wairarapa until 9pm.

🚌 Further disruptions to bus services are still possible due to ongoing weather conditions.

🚆 Trains are running as normal. Remutaka Hill is likely to be closed for the next 24 hours due to significant weather damage, so if you are going over the hill you can catch the train instead.

⚠️ Please continue to avoid non-essential travel and check the Metlink website, service alerts, and app for latest updates.

Severe Weather Update: 3.42pm, Monday 20 April

Metlink advises passengers to act early, head home, or stay home where possible as severe weather continues to affect the Wellington Region. Please avoid any unnecessary travel for tomorrow - Tuesday 21 April.

Please take care, there may be more people travelling than usual, as everyone tries to get home safely.

🚌 Bus Services

Further disruptions to bus services are likely due to forecast weather conditions. Some routes may need to detour, and bus stops may be closed at short notice.

🚆 Rail Services

Wairarapa customers are advised to head home on the 4:25pm service.

Currently the rail network is still operating, and we will keep you informed if this changes.

⛴ Ferry Services

All Wellington Harbour ferry services are cancelled for the remainder of the afternoon and tomorrow – Tuesday 21 April.

⚠️ There are multiple road closures, detours, and cancellations across the network, so check the Metlink website, service alerts or app before you travel.
