Farewell (for now) to Jim and Pam 👋

We recently had the pleasure of working alongside Jim and Pam on the refit of Roam, , their Catana 472 performance cruising catamaran, while they were here in Tauranga as part of their round the world journey.

Cruisers like Jim and Pam have options. They could have chosen anywhere in the world for this work, but they chose New Zealand and more specifically Tauranga as their refit destination.

Hearing their feedback meant a lot to our team:
“Our expectations were exceeded at every level. We couldn’t have asked for better.”

It was a true collaboration from start to finish and one we genuinely enjoyed being part of.

Safe sailing you two. We look forward to seeing you again next year ⚓

Day Three at the Auckland Boat Show ⚓️

The docks are buzzing, the coffee is flowing, and the conversations keep getting better.

We are loving the chance to connect with people who appreciate thoughtful design, beautiful finishes, and boats built to be used and enjoyed. Step aboard, take a seat in the cockpit, and imagine where she could take you.

If you are at the show today, come and say hello. We would love to show you around.

How do you choose the right boatbuilder? ⚓️

When your boat’s out of the water, who you trust to work on it really matters.

Here’s what’s worth checking before you say yes:
• Are the tradespeople actually qualified in their fields?
• Do they have the right facilities and equipment to do the job properly?
• Are they adequately insured?
• Do they run a solid operation with systems and accountability?
• Have they handled insurance work before and understand the process?
• Do they stand behind their workmanship?

We’re seeing more insurance companies choose Marra Marine as a preferred repairer because we’ve built the right team, the right setup, and the right experience to get repairs done properly the first time.

Quick fixes can look fine on the surface. It’s what’s underneath that counts.

If you’re planning work or dealing with an insurance claim, give us a call. We’ll walk you through it and make sure it’s done right.

Kaeā is our first new build at Marra Marine, designed by Bill Upfold and built here in Tauranga. She’s a milestone for our team and reflects the collaboration, craftsmanship, and belief from everyone involved, especially the owner who backed the vision from day one.

If you’re at the show, come say hi, we’d love to share the story behind the build.

Tools down. Harnesses on.

A wee while back the Marra Marine crew swapped epoxy for adrenaline and took on the Rotorua ziplines 😅

Turns out dangling through the forest is a solid reminder that the team can handle a bit of speed, trust, and the odd shaky leg. Plenty of laughs. A few nerves. No one left behind.

With that energy in mind, we’ll be tools down and closing the workshop from midday tomorrow to give the crew a well earned end of year break. Huge thanks to our team, our clients, and everyone who’s backed us this year.

We’ll be back soon refreshed, recharged, and back to building the good stuff.
