Kia ora Everyone
The ferry captain has decided that it's time he retired. This means that unless anyone would like to take the ferry over, the operation will cease forthwith.

Rob would like to thank everyone for their support over the past 14 or so years, and wish you all the very best.

Kia ora everyone, the weather forecast is still going to be outside our safety operation parameters, so no ferry this weekend. It’s devastating to see the damage from the storm in the area and our thoughts are with the Mt Maunganui rescuers and families.

Ferry Operation: Monday 19 January to Thursday 22 January 2026. We have reviewed the forecast for both wind and rain, and have unfortunately had to make the call not to operate during the upcoming storm. The wind forecast in particular is outside our safety operating parameters. We will reassess and advise if it's possible to operate on Friday 23rd of January. Thank you.

No ferry today, Sunday 18 January 2026, unfortunately, the wind and rain forecast is outside our safety operating parameters. Keep it a couch day today.

We will reassess the forecast tomorrow and advise accordingly.

Saturday 17 January 2026: from now on the ferry will be operating hourly ex Tairua Wharf between 10.00am and 4.00pm. We planned to operate Saturdays 10am, to 6pm, however there are not a lot of people around, so not economic to operate until 6.00pm. Cheers

Great news: the ferry had now had its wiring problem sorted will be back operating hourly ex Tairua Wharf between 10am and 6pm. If you had to get a ride back with Richard Ocean Adventures when the ferry broke down, please let the captain know when you board. Thanks

Kia ora everyone, we're still working on getting parts for the motor, so the ferry will not be operating today.

No ferry operating today, we are hopeful of getting the part we need for the motor, so will keep you posted for Friday 9 January.

URGENT MESSAGE TUESDAY 7 JANUARY
The ferry has an unhappy injector pump on one engine. Richard from Ocean Adventures has kindly offered to help out. So, if you are at Pauanui wharf at 6.20pm, he can take you to Tairua Marina; if you are at Tairua, go to the Tairua Marina and he will take you back to Pauanui. His berth is the first one on the Marina, be there at 6.20pm.
