Five minutes in the Westhaul yard, 6 photos. Nothing tidied up first.

1. Our oldest employee. Faded from being overworked. Semi-retired, but still turns up in uniform.
2. Kiwi ingenuity at it's finest. Our security gate. It's whole job is to stop the neighbour's dog kakking in our yard. Dog is currently undefeated.
3. Netting still up, apples still on the ground. Even the orchard's having a slow start to spring.
4. Someone's crusty lunchbox. Vintage, & I mean that in the food safety sense.
5. Fleet manager's work whip. It's a snazzy hybrid. It has been bougee'd up by a man (our glorious leader) who may have been a boy racer his past life. He will admit to nothing.
6. Driveway daffs. The ugliest strip of dirt we own.

T24 joined the Westie fleet this week.

T24 is giving Transformer Robots-In-Disguise vibes, so I've taken it upon myself to name her Dolly, after the late great Dolly Parton.

Hard worker, funny as, extremely good looking, never big-noted herself. And there's already a dolly in every yard in the country, so it was always going to fit.

Rest easy Dolly. This one will do the name proud.

They say the milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard.

Not in this case. It's Dolly the Kenworth 🩷

Last week of winter & August is meant to be our quiet month.

Someone forgot to tell the trucks.

Jordie's on the Hoki out of Picton.
Sarah, Shane, Hobbit & Clayton are on containers.
Dan's on logs.
Lyell & Arnie are somewhere around the country linehauling.
Jase is moving everything else.
Mechanic Harry is in the workshop getting his hands dirty.

And there's a new truck sitting in the yard waiting on its signage.

Empty yard, full week. We'll take it 💙

P.S Who got up to watch the AB's vs SA Lion's game this morning at stupid o'clock & wanted to throw hands with Sky Sport for stuffing up the whole first half viewing?

- Class 4 license
- F endorsement, or keen to get one
- DG endorsement would be an advantage
- Clean license & happy to do a pre-employment drug test
- Some warehousing or 3PL experience would be a real bonus
- Must bring good vibes

Caroline is leaving us for five weeks. Off to the UK.

She's leaving in our winter & landing in their summer, which she assures me was not planned. I don't believe her.

So if you ring the office over the next while & get Karl or myself instead, that's why. Bear with us. She has a system & we are not across it (That's untrue. We are across it. Like an itchy rash).

Settle something for us.

Frozen windscreen at 5am. What's your ACTUAL method?

1. Scraper, done properly
2. Scraper, done badly, one small peep hole to see through
3. Arms folded, waiting on the demister
4. Warm water & a prayer

One of our boys swears by number four. He is wrong.

Go on then.

Six months of our driver Jordie Kiriona yesterday. Feels like about six weeks.

He tells me he's loving it, which is either true or very good manners.

Either way he's stuck with us now. Good on ya mate 💙

The smell of hoki on my clothes

Getting a trip to the very top of the North Island

Midweek morale officer, reporting for duty.

He lives on my desk, & he's the only one in the building with his eyes fully open this morning.

He certainly didn't get up at 5am for the AB's game like some of us did.

Two days to Friday! Trucks are out, phones are on, coffee is life today, we're getting there Team 💪
