Today we decided to travel to Wellington by train so Luke could experience something different not the usual car trip. ( Diba mga mommies kakaiba hehe) The night before, he was already so excited that he willingly went to bed early when we told him he needed to wake up early. (Charrr! Walang dabog haha) That alone made me smile. It was his first time taking a long train ride, and by 5am he was already awake. (Sabi ko train paalis na bilisan mo magpalit haha! O di giving agad! Hahaha!) The night before he had carefully prepared his things, so in the morning he quickly got ready, full of excitement as we headed to the train station. Once we were on the train, Luke proudly chose where we would sit as a family. As the train started moving, his eyes were glued to the window, spotting farms, animals, mountains, cliffs, and the sea. Daming tanong as in. He started counting the tunnels and timing how long it would take to get through them. Not once during the whole trip did he get bored. He ate his breakfast while watching the scenery pass by, pointing at everything he saw and asking so many questions. Sometimes his questions surprise me and make me laugh. Iβm often amazed at how his little brain works. Magaling pa sakin at talagang tinuturuan pako!πWhat made me even happier was watching him eat without me reminding him to finish his food or clean up his crumbs. He just did it naturally. In that quiet moment, watching him happily and peacefully enjoying his breakfast, I felt so relaxed. Narealize ko how much I love these simple moments, when heβs just being himself.
When we arrived in Wellington, we visited the The Beehive. My husband had been talking to Luke about it before we arrived, explaining what happens there and who works inside. When we finally saw it, Luke just stood there looking around, amazed by everything. The two of them had their own little discussion about it while me naman nagsesearch on my phone for other places to visit.
Luke had a quick play at the playground nearby, and when he was ready to go we decided to head up to Space Place. We took the Wellington Cable Car to get there, and honestly, we were all excited like little kids. Watching the city slowly appear as the cable car climbed higher was such a beautiful experience.
At the top, we spent some time just taking in the views. My favourite part was seeing the whole city and especially the sea stretching out in the distance. It was peaceful and breathtaking. As in super ganda! Napapaisip ako ang galing talaga ni God. Lukeβs favourite part, though, was definitely Space Place. He learned so many things about the sun, the moon, stars, black holes, gravity, and so much more about space. You could see how fascinated he was. It was such a joyful experience watching him learn and explore.
Nung nakauwi na kami, he was still so happy that the next day he wanted to write about his adventure. Seeing him that excited and proud made my heart full. I donβt think Iβve seen him that happy in a long time.
And it made me realise something.
Sometimes I get so busy with work and everyday responsibilities that I forget to slow down and enjoy these little moments with my son. These small adventures, his excitement, his curiosity, these are the little milestones that pass by so quickly.
Days like this remind me that the simplest experiences often become the most meaningful memories.
And I hope we make more of them together. π
