Busy weekend. They came from Whangarei, Auckland, Otago, Winton and a little closer to home, Tauranga.

This announcement was made 16 May....the track is still closed. They did get close to opening however, and then a slip...slipped.😀 so we will not be running any shuttles this labour weekend and crossing fingers for our early November bookings.

Pakihi Track is temporarily CLOSED, effective immediately, for a period of about four weeks.

This closure will enable DOC to undertake remediation work on the Pakihi Track, which has been hit by several big storms/slips since 2016.

Further details as they come to hand. But the outcome will be that the Pakihi is in good condition.

Motu Trails Charitable Trust acknowledges and thanks the local DOC team. Pakihi is an icon of NZ mountain biking, but it's also a maintenance challenge.

If you've enjoyed the Pakihi over the last year or so, why not drop a word of thanks below, for the DOC team. After all, without their efforts, there wouldn't be a usable track for any of us to ride, run or walk.

SHUTTLE LEAVES 9am DAILY until further notice, and with minimum of 4. BOOKing ensures seat. BIKE HIRE 9.30am daily unless pre arranged time has been organised. CLOSED NEW YEARS DAY.

UPDATE: Pakihi Track closure.

Unfortunately the Pakihi Track will remain closed until next week.

The slip by the suspension bridge has overhanging rock that presents a danger of falling onto the track. This rock will be blasted. Weather permitting this is likely to be carried out Tuesday 18 Dec, which means all going well the track would reopen Wednesday 19 Dec.

Apologies for inconvenience, but the closure is for safety.
