Hi everyone
Sadly we are announcing that due to escalating gas prices we closing our greenhouses down.
It is no longer sustainable to grow a crop that needs a lot of heating.
Gas prices have more than doubled annually in the last few years and are looking at approximately $220k just for heating. Then there’s the power, seed and many other increases that put the risk too high as we don’t set our prices, we just get what we get at the markets depending on supply and demand.

We are looking forward to a break and then possibly may consider a lower input crop.

Thank you so much for helping us have a successful 30+yrs growing capsicums for NZ, we have had pleasure being able to offer our tag2 product to our local community through our gate stall and have met many of you fantastic people along the way.

We are winding down now so there is only very limited gate sales until the last of the crop is pulled out.

Hi all

We have a NPGHS Year 11 Social Studies class doing a Social Action project, they have asked if we could be a drop off point for their donation gathering.
They are collecting for TAPT (Taranaki Animal Protection Trust) and the SPCA New Plymouth
These charities have a need for cat food, blankets, towels, toys, kitty litter trays, cat trees, baby wipes.
Larger items can be placed in our carport, there will be a crate in the Pepper Stall for these collections. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

There is oodles of capsicums at the gate, be sure to call by if you are passing! We held plenty back so hopefully don’t sell out…again!

We have some peppers going out to the gate at 4pm.
They are still a bit green on one side but if you leave them in the bag together they will keep ripening in a day or so.
Limited supply and will try my best to keep stocked until they run out.
Will post when they are sold out.

Thank you for your amazing support all, we can’t keep up with the demand and our fruit is so slow to ripen this year it’s very sporadic for gate stall supply.
Will update after pick tomorrow but I don’t think there will be many sadly.

We have no gate sales available for the next few weeks sorry! Waiting on the next fruit set to ripen.

I will post when there’s a constant supply for gate, currently there will only be what is available when it is and until it runs out.

We have lots of relish bags available this weekend! 🫙
$10 bag approximately 4.5kg in each bag. These are either softer or bigger blemishes than the usual bags. Located in bottom of stall.
NOTE: These are only available when are at gate so please don’t call or message asking for them, they are not always available so a good idea to get now while available.

Great for pickling for Christmas gifts 🎁 or fine to eat. I will post my favourite recipe in comments.

The usual $5 bags are there too.

We are back!
Gate sales are now available.
It has been a bit challenging navigating the needs our new variety so there’s a bit of mild “blossom end rot” on some of this lot.
Note: it is not “rot” it’s papery like patches that are caused when the plant can’t get enough nutrients/calcium and attacks the fruit for it.
The rest of the fruit is perfectly fine

Hi All, we are winding down for the season so low stock at gate stall.
This week is our last fruit then we will be pulling the crop to replant for next season.
Back again late October/early November

This is exactly how it is, things are getting tough and us little growers as we are dealing with a huge increase in costs but the buyers aren’t covering them.

We only sell our tag2 at the gate, 200tonne annually goes to the markets for commercial sales. We don’t choose our price we just get what we’re given. Reminding you this 200tonne of food comes from a 7200m2 greenhouse, fully retained irrigation so no environmental risk and plants release good gases, ya know how people are planting trees? We have 30,000 of them!

We have just been informed of a $50k annual increase in our gas, another almost 30% on top of that is carbon charges. This is a 35% increase in heating for the year! We have already had a 30% increase in insurance, rates, fertiliser, wages, grow bags, freight everything! But prices have hardly moved.

We need support otherwise after 30+yrs of hard work we’ll be finished.

Some Australian producers turn their backs on the major supermarkets because of what they say are unfair prices at the farm gate.

Sorry guys, we have very little ripe fruit at the moment. They’re all 🫑 but starting to turn so should be ramping back into sillyness next week.
Don’t make any special trips out as we have sold out until mid next week.
