FAVORITE part of the trip!!!!
The Scenic Te Mata Peak Supertrike tour was honestly one of my favorite parts of our two-week trip. Riding in the open-air trike made the whole experience feel adventurous and unique. The drive itself is incredible, taking you through beautiful countryside and up toward Te Mata Peak, with amazing scenery the whole way.
The ride up to the top was an absolute blast, and the views from the peak were stunning. You get incredible panoramic views over Hawke’s Bay and the surrounding landscape, which made the whole experience really special.
Our guide was fantastic too — the perfect balance of being chatty and sharing interesting information while also giving us time to just relax and enjoy the ride and scenery. It never felt rushed and the vibe was really fun and easygoing.
A couple quick tips: bring a scarf or face covering you can pull up over your mouth because the wind can get strong during the ride, and definitely wear sunglasses to protect your eyes.
Overall, it was such a fun and memorable experience and easily one of the highlights of our trip. If you’re visiting Napier and want something a little different with incredible views, I highly recommend this tour!

We had an absolutely fantastic tour of Te Mata Peak with Phil on his Supertrike!
This is probably the most fun you can have and a marvelous way to tour through the countryside on the way up to Te Mata Peak.
We were only in for the day on a Viking cruise, and reached out by email. Phil was great, looking at the ship's schedule and helping us pick out a time for the tour. He also followed the ship's schedule and reached out the night before to say, it looked like we were coming in 30 minutes later than plan, but no worries, he would adjust the start time to accommodate.
The trike was a blast, with plenty of room, even for a larger guy like me.
It has to be the best way to feel like you are on the open road. It was really quite exhilarating!

Another great review for Phil and showing his customer service skills too, not only does he enjoy his job but he wants you all to have the best experience too! There's a reason we keep him! 😁

Cruise goers - This is the perfect way to blow out the cobwebs and get away from the crowds on your own personal tour to Te Mata Peak, up to 4 people max on tour. Always best to book direct so it makes it easier for us to contact you with any changes to ship times/shuttle times and weather updates.

What a ride!

This was an awesome way to take in the topography of Napier. From sea level pick up to the 1400’ Te Mata Peak views - just wonderful! Phil was a great driver, handling the comfortable vehicle with finesse at curves and bumps - and had impressive power at 100 kph on the straightaways! Highly recommend to bring ‘wraparound’ sunglasses and dress in layers - a windbreaker was invaluable and a mouth kerchief is optimal for comfort. What a ride!

Phil has been getting some awesome reviews again on Trip Advisor, as you can see he hates his job and it clearly shows 😆

Great trip in a great area.
Phil picked us up from our hotel in Napier and we had a blast out to Te Mata Peak on his Trike. What a great couple of hours with a really great guy on a great machine. You really get to experience the scenery, sounds and aromas of the surroundings along with a bit of V8 engine as well. What is not to love. Thanks Phil for your company and the experience.

What a blast!
From start to finish it was a blast. The trike had lots of get up and go! Phil did a great job of
giving us a reved up experience literally! Great views from the top and on route.
Glad we took the ride and highly recommend you do as well.

Our Te Mata Peak Tours have been cancelled this weekend as Te Mata Peak has been closed for fire risk as we are expecting over 30 degrees along with strong winds and low humidity. It's very dry out there so we totally agree with their decision and look forward to tours resuming as soon as the fire risk is over.
Enjoy the weekend folks and remember to slip, slop, slap. 😁

⚠️ Te Mata Park to temporarily close due to extreme fire risk ⚠️

Te Mata Park will close to the public from 10pm Friday the 9th of January, due to the extreme fire conditions identified by Hawke's Bay - Fire and Emergency.

All access to Te Mata Park from 10pm Friday the 9th of January until at least 8am Monday the 12th of January is strictly prohibited. Peak House will be closed over this period.

Several factors have combined to significantly increase the risk of fire, including temperatures that are expected to exceed 30 degrees, strong winds, low humidity, and very little rain in many weeks. The temporary closure is a precautionary measure to help protect public safety, Te Mata Park, and neighbouring land during this high-risk period.

Te Mata Park Trust will continue to work with Hastings District Council - Te Kaunihera ā-Rohe o Heretaunga and Hawke’s Bay Fire and Emergency to monitor conditions and will advise when the Park is reopened.
