Big weekend ahead for runners, walkers, supporters, and volunteers across Ōtepoti Dunedin as the Emerson's Dunedin Marathon returns this Sunday for its 46th year.

The full marathon starts at Portobello before following the harbour towards the city, including a stretch along Te Aka Ōtākou (The Otago Vine). It’s a pretty good way to experience some of Dunedin’s best scenery—although perhaps at a slightly quicker pace than usual.

Whether you’re chasing a time, walking with friends, trying your first event, or cheering from the sidelines, we hope you have a great day out there.

A new addition to Emerson's Dunedin Marathon weekend is hitting George Street this Saturday from 4pm.

The 2026 ASB George Street Mile & NZ Road Mile Championships will bring a full afternoon of mile races to the central city, with separate starts for the Kids Mile, Social Mile, University Mile, and the NZ Mile Championships.

The Kids, Social, and University races are open to runners, joggers, walkers, and anyone keen to be part of it, while the Championship races will see some of New Zealand’s fastest milers competing through the heart of the city.

Running the Emerson’s Dunedin Marathon on Sunday? The Social Mile also makes a handy pre-race shakeout.

We’re proud to support the Emerson’s Dunedin Marathon and love seeing another event bringing people into the heart of Ōtepoti.

Entries for the Kids, Social, and University miles remain open until event day unless sold out.

Otago Polyfest opens today.

For more than 30 years, Polyfest has brought tamariki, rangatahi, whānau, schools, and communities together to celebrate Māori and Pacific cultures, languages, and identities.

It’s an event that reaches right across our region—from our youngest performers through to secondary school students—and creates a place for young people to stand proudly, build confidence, and share their culture with their communities.

Dunedin Airport is proud to support Otago Polyfest 2026 and the people who make this special week possible.

Performances run from 7–11 September at the Edgar Centre Dunedin NZ

Dunedin Airport is backing the Northern Royal Albatross / Toroa ingoingo for Forest & Bird’s Bird of the Year 2026.

The albatross has been part of our story for a long time, from our previous logo to the design of our terminal.

It also belongs to the wider story of Ōtepoti Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula—The Royal Albatross Centre is one of the few places in the world where you can see these remarkable manu so close to a city.
