Another great project we completed at the end of 2023. Manunui - a Kauri Bridge Decker built in 1939. Our scope of work was to renovate the cabin tops, rebuild the WWII headlights and full repaint. All of our team totally enjoyed bringing Manunui back to the elegant boat she once was.

2023 was a very busy year for the WEBBCo team, with the completion of some great projects, while our design team are working on the Gen 2 electric ferry.
Wilsons Abel Tasman National Park boat Vista II scope of work was to improve performance. Our team extended the hulls by 2.5 metres, installed new propellors and rudders. Repainted the boat and made her look like new again. Performance went from 12 knots with 75 pax to a maximum speed of 26 knots. Making it perfect for BBQ cruises, special events and Christmas parties. Not to mention the new high efficiency propellors, making it quieter and 25% more fuel efficient.

Over the last 2 years the WEBBCo and East by West team have recorded exciting data that we are able to use in our new Gen 2 Design. As with any working prototype there are opportunities to discover new developments. With emerging technology, the WEBBCo Design team have been developing the Gen 2 of the 20-metre catamaran and incorporating these changes into 16-metre, 20-metre and 24 metre concepts.
One outcome of this design and build is the revelation that "Everything effects everything with electric design and build".

Destinations across the world are enthusiastically embracing the concept of electric ferries, driven by a collective yearning for cleaner and more sustainable forms of energy.

The call for these eco-friendly vessels comes as no surprise, considering the immeasurable advantages they offer. Beyond the apparent reduction in air and water pollution, electrified passenger ferries deliver immense benefits for local communities and the thriving tourism industry they, at times, rely upon.

Not only could these vessels alleviate some congestion on roads and existing transit routes, but they also introduce a breath of fresh air, transforming ferry transportation into an exhilarating experience. With reduced noise levels and minimal vibrations, passengers can bask in the tranquility and serenity of the journey while relishing the smoother sailing.

WEBBCo Managing Director, Fraser Foote, recently attended the Saudi Maritime Congress, a prominent event that brought together Senior Professionals from both regional and international maritime, shipping, and logistics communities.

The two-day conference was an excellent platform for discussing the emerging market of vessel electrification with individuals who share similar values and interests as WEBBCo.

It was fantastic for Fraser to have the opportunity to engage with prospective clients and discuss the success of Wellingtons Ika Rere, while highlighting how WEBBCo's capabilities and dedication to decarbonization, without compromising performance, could bring numerous benefits to others in the industry.

Encouraged after our recent opportunity to present at Auckland Council's Transport and Infrastructure committee meeting, WEBBCO stands firmly behind Auckland Transport's ambitious commitment to electrify its passenger fleet, marking a pivotal step towards a greener and more sustainable future.

Embracing this important initiative, we are eager to contribute our expertise to the development of "run-specific" solutions that can cater to virtually every existing ferry route in the Waitematā Harbour. One particularly exciting concept that we aim to bring to fruition is our proposed bike boat concept, which seeks to enhance Auckland's transport system by incorporating bicycles onto ferries, allowing commuters to seamlessly transition from land to water between Northcote and Wynyard Quarter.

WEBBCO, a leading high-speed electric ferry builder, is encouraged after their recent opportunity to present to the Auckland Council Transport and Infrastructure committee meeting in August. The meeting provided a valuable platform to discuss and share insights on Electric Ferries and their associ
