Amuri Transport 1989 Ltd

Amuri Transport 1989 Ltd Amuri Transport was born from Transpac, one of New Zealand’s largest transport Companies that went into receivership in 1988.

Transpacs demise lead to the rise of Amuri Transport. With a typical kiwi attitude, eight drivers from the Culverden and Waiau depots of Transpac refused to call it quits, and approached the receivers and enquired as to how they could buy out the vehicles and the depots from the receivers. They mortgaged their homes and Amuri Transport (1989) Ltd was underway, despite the vehicles being old and ha

ving high mileage, the new company rose like a phoenix from the ashes even though many thought Amuri Transport would only survive six months. With sheer grit and determination the highly experienced drivers gradually began to build up the company despite going through some very rough times. The support of the locals in those early years and through to today, has been of immense value to the Company, the business has continued to grow with the on-going support of the local businesses and farmers. Over the years, the number of owners has reduced from eight to three, and Amuri Transport is now owned by Peter Murphy, Michael Murphy and Kevin Crean. Michael and Kevin still drive livestock vehicles and Peter runs the Livestock Dispatch operation. Today Amuri Transport is thankful to all those that have supported the business, and the Company re-invests back into area wherever it can through sponsorships and charities.

Friday 29 Oct 2018 Update :
River Road has safely re-opened to traffic, with a single lane priority give way in place over the subsided area. Our crews have placed a temporary backfill over the area.

The single lane set-up is likely to be in place for a week or two as our engineers scope the permanent repair and get this completed.

Please follow all signage directions.

Thank you for your patience.

This afternoon our roading contractors discovered some culvert subsidence which is affecting a section of River Road. Further investigation has found this subsidence to be substantial and as a result, we have put in place a temporary road closure while we make the section of road driveable again.

A signposted detour is currently in place via Lyndon Road, however, heavy vehicles will not be able to use this route because of weight restrictions on the bridges.

Our contractors are now working with great urgency to remedy this and have the road opened again by this evening.

We thank you for your patience.

Amuri Transport taking a load of bulls deep into Molesworth Station, into Tarndale - a place few people will ever see - unless they get big Jim's permission.

He's transformed Molesworth, New Zealand's biggest station, into a highly productive farm despite its long history of rabbit plagues, arid conditions and mismangement over nearly 100 years. It's in good hands, and Amuri are instrumental in making the station viable.
