Our team recently wrapped up the end of the season with some time out of the office experiencing the spectacular Mackenzie Country. We split into three groups, each with a different experience.

Team Ride, rode from Twizel along the canals, around the end of Lake Ohau to the amazing Lake Ohau Lodge.

Team Gardens, explored Lake Ohau Village to see the recovery after the devastating fire in 2020 and were then treated to high-tea at The Barn at Killin

Team Views headed up the hill to learn more about the Ohau Snow fields and check out the views

We were all lucky enough to then spend the night in the lovely Lake Ohau Lodge where we were well fed and watered.

We’re all now back in the office with a fresh perspective on our amazing trails.

The Alps 2 Ocean trail covers 300km (190 miles) from the base of Aoraki Mt Cook through glacier-carved valleys, turquoise lakes and rolling farmland all the way to the Pacific Ocean.

The Alps 2 Ocean cycle trail in New Zealand is one of the longest in the country at around 300 km.

It passes alongside Lake Pukaki, which is famously one of the most intensely turquoise lakes in the world, the colour comes from "rock flour," ultra-fine glacial sediment ground down by the Southern Alps glaciers that stays suspended in the meltwater.

"Every staff member we dealt with were exceptional. John who booked our trip, Sandra at the Omarama depot was fantastic and knowledgeable, as was Martin.

Our driver Brian was always on time and obliging. Aaron was available at the depot for some mid-ride bike maintenance and full of suggestions.

Special mention to BnB operators Lyn at Riverside and Michelle and Steve at Windhaven, who in addition to excellent hospitality, supplied us with delicious meals which were well received.

We would thoroughly recommend Trail Journeys for anyone looking for a cycling holiday in NZ."

Introducing the Omarama to Oamaru section of the Alps to Ocean Cycle Trail, one of the most scenic and story rich rides in New Zealand.

Over three manageable days, you will follow the Waitaki River from alpine lakes to the coast, riding past turquoise canals, huge hydro dams and wide open valley views.

This self guided tour takes you along Lake Benmore, across the largest earth dam in the country, and into the remarkable limestone landscapes of the Waitaki Whitestone Geopark.
