Recently, members of our team at PARKS had the privilege of taking part in Cook for Cancer Care at the Canterbury Cancer Centre in Christchurch.
The centre provides accommodation for cancer patients and their families who have travelled to Christchurch for treatment. It also offers transport to and from the hospital, along with a range of other support services, helping ease the pressure on people at an already difficult time.
Our team cooked for approximately 70 people at the centre and on the menu was a delicious pasta bolognese, garlic bread and green salad ๐๐ฅ
For many guests, treatment means spending weeks away from home, often from right across the South Island. Sharing a home-cooked meal with others who understand what they're going through is a small gesture that can mean a great deal.
It was a humbling experience, and a powerful reminder of the difference the Cancer Society makes in our community. Thank you to the Cancer Society team for welcoming us, and to everyone at PARKS who supported the day.
